In today's step by step crochet tutorial I will show you how to crochet this easy marshmallow stitch hat for baby girls from 3 to 6 month old. You can also make this crochet hat smaller or bigger by changing your hook size. Just remember that these sizes are not exact since not all babies are the same size. NB use 2mm crochet hook with #3 or DK yarn
0-3M use 2.5mm crochet hook with #3 or DK yarn
3-6M I used a 3mm crochet hook with #3 or DK yarn
6-9M use a 3.5mm crochet hook with #3 or DK yarn
9-12M use a 4mm crochet hook with #3 or DK yarn
For this crochet baby hat or crochet tutorial I used James C Brett DK Baby Yarn with a 3 mm crochet hook. I used about 50 grams for the crochet baby hat with pompom.

I'm on my third "marshmallow" hat! I made one for a new grand baby coming next month, I made one for my gorgeous 6 year old grand daughter who was watching me make one for our coming baby in variegated pinks yarn and says "Yiayia! I want a rainbow hat too!" And then my 3 year old grand daughter said "Yiayia! I want one too!"

Hi, using 3mm hook and #3 yarn, doing 78 rows, my length was much longer the 34cm. Can you please tell me where I am going wrong

Try with smaller hook. Tensions vary from person to person which could be the reason in this instance. Good luck 👍

Use a 4.5mm hook. If you crochet loose then use a 4mm hook.
