Fantastic tutorial! I am a newbie (first stitch was 2 days ago) and I've only made a simple washcloth with single and double crochetsn but you explain things so well that I truly believe I will be able to do this blackberry stitch without too much trouble! Mikey thank you so much for this pattern. I've been crocheting for many years & the triple crochet is my least favorite stitch. I've changed my mind. I used Michael's Impeccable yarn using an I hook. The color amethyst make the bumps look like juicy grapes. I wanna try cotton next. The scarf is beautiful. Thank you again. You're a gifted teacher.

Sure you can....for the scarf if you make you chain in sets of 4 until its long enough for the project you want to do and then add four chains to that to start the pattern you will be all set ....for the hat you can use this stitch too you can either work in the round or make a panle and close up the ends.....another option is to find a bobble hat pattern to see how to work it out ......Cathy@The Crochet Crowd :)

I crocheted three samples. First based on Blackberry Salad Stitch from Donna Kooler's Encylopedia of crochet. Second following a variation of that pattern by Miss-Crochet at blogspot . Third based on Mikeyssmail's you tube pattern. My count was fine, I just didn't understand what was happening with my +1st. Figured out now. Thanks for help!

I really like you hook; I have gone to Michael's and Joanne's but have not been able to find hooks with theat type of handle. Omg... so confused...have multiple tmes 4 triple crochets... start at new row exactly like the video and i'm always 1 triple crochet short at the end... getting very confused now...... love your lessons!

Write the pattern down as he says it (stop video to do this)........write it in your own terms...it will work.

I keep getting 4 posts on the left side of the front of my work and 3 posts on the right side on my "bobble" row which is supposed to have 4 posts at the start and end of the row. Any idea why? I have ripped out numerous times now.
