Does your "calico" Sugar and Cream yarn have a green tint to the beige-y shade? Mine does, and I'm not sure it works for this, even though it stitched up stiff and so the tail stands tall.

For the brown “calico”, I used Sugar n Cream’s Chocolate Ombré. I have not noticed a green tint in the beige section- maybe there was just added color for your dye lot? They also have an orange ombré, and I have used this with black added randomly. It makes a beautiful calico pattern.

Is the suger and cream yarn more of a stiffer type yarn than regular yarn? I just made one with regular yarn, and I think it needs to be more stiffer if this makes sense? I think it needs to feel more sturdier for a coaster than with regular yarn which makes it curl a bit... Thank you for such a cute and easy pattern!

Hey there! Sugar n cream is a stiffer cotton yarn if you are comparing it a regular yarn like red heart. If it curls a bit on the edges I would also consider going up one hook size, that may help.

Cotton is best for coasters, as it absorbs spills and cup sweat. It also launders well.

I loe this pattern, but my coasters seems small. Do you have a method to increase the circumference just a little?

I had same issue, I heard G so I made my first one with a g hook and it was too tiny, then when I double checked the hook size she said 4.5mm or G hook, a 4.5 hook that’s what we call a size 7 hook it’s bigger than a G (4.0mm) and smaller than an H (5.0mm). I’m usually a Bates crochet hook girl but I know Boye has a 4.25 that they also say is a G hook. So watch you hook sizes ;)

My tail is floppy and has a gap. It doesn’t look connected like your finished piece even though I followed exactly. The feet have a little space too where you had us skip a stitch. I used peaches and cream cotton yarn. And had to do a smaller hook than you suggested because I crochet loose and my first attempt was ruffling. Any suggestions?

Hey there! One way to consider to remove the gap is to use the yarn end when weaving in ends to sew the tail better. Blocking (a light water mist and then shaping the coaster while it is flat) also can help. ❤
