Thank you so much for the tutorial I did change my ribbing though on the neck and sides I made a ribbing with single crochet it went a lot faster and easier for me where I get pain in my hands but it came out looking good so happy with the result :) Oh yes I made the doll one as an example to what the child size one would look like :)

I made a set for a child and her doll last year, but I read the directions a little differently than Mikey. When it came time to do both the collar and the side ribbing I attached them to the garment as I formed them. (Does that make any sense?) Meaning, to do the side ribbing I attached the yarn to the bottom of the right side and chained the number specified. Then I did each row of slip stitches, back and forth, but every time I got to the side of the garment I slip stitched into it before turning to do the next row of ribbing. I found it made for a nice look and I didn't have to worry about sewing them on later. Just a bit different.

I have worked up to the neck shaping on a size 4. At the end of 4 rows of hdcdec I should have a total of 18 sts, however, this is not the number I come up with. I end up with 17 st. I have counted out the 7 stitches needed for the neck and the 19 plus 2 for the hdc2tog over 2 stitches but still come out with 17. Can you help me with this. I have frogged it over and over and over again. Each time that I redo it, I come out with the same number "17" but the 17 is supposed to be the size 2 not 4.

I really wish you were showing the child size because the back neck part of the pattern is different from the doll's. The instructions have us working it like the front up to 17in and then working 2more inches. Am I reading correctly that there are no shoulders on the back panel?

This is Caron One Pound. It's a #4 Medium Weight Yarn. Not chunky. I don't really know what double knit weight is to be honest with you. I don' use any yarn that has double knit on the packaging.

Hello mikey! I am making this poncho for a 4yo. The thing is i am stuck at one point, shoulder of back. The instructions by yarn inspiration ( the link in your description box) does not include the shoulder instruction for back. For doll, it states 6sts then skip 9 and fasten off and then tie new yarn and rep. Alright! The thing is i cant understand how much sts i need for the back. Is it similar to front?

hi quick question, as i was reading the pattern for the back panel, i was under the assumption that the back was finished in a straight line, without notches like you did to join the front panel. Yes for the human size, it's a straight panel in the back. I put a note at the beginning of this tutorial about that. I know many people have asked about that as well.
