Jayda, I've made 2 of these so far, and the 2nd time around was much easier. I subbed trebles for doubles and half doubles for singles cause I used a slightly smaller button. I added a loop to it, and now I have a way to fasten my "Splendid Springtime Shawl" (which is more than just a spring time shawl, if I may add. I wear it with nearly everything and sleep with it.) But... the first time around, crocheting the button cover wasn't that hard, but turning it into a necklace was. You see, I made it overly complicated and tried to stitch a really long chain, join it, then do the stitch I would've liked for the necklace part to be. There were some issues: The chain kept getting twisted. I couldn't figure out exactly where to join it without it looking weird. And, I literally cried out of frustration and gave up. So basically, my first crochet covered button is sitting on my coffee table doing nothing but looking pretty.
@JaydaInStitches7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tamera! At least your first button has the purpose of looking pretty ;) Lots of things work out better the second time around (they certainly do for me!). Thank you so much for watching!

Hi Cindy! It can be a little challenging at first, that's for sure! I find if I'm having trouble adjusting, I'll just fiddle around with it for a while, try a few sample stitches, chain lengths, whatever just to get comfortable. Then, after a little of that, I'm usually warmed up and it's easier to manage :)

It worked yay me!!! The first one I had to encase a pretty heart I have and had to do four spokes to get it to fit holy you weren’t kidding it’s tedious.!!! I tried not to cuss it out lol lol.

I have a jar that I got from my great aunt (pickle jar) and also some of my grandmothers too I know that in the (olden days) when clothes would wear out they would cut off the buttons and reuse them Neat, but isn't it sad that most people these days just though so much away :'( Thank you so much for sharing this!
@JaydaInStitches7 жыл бұрын
I totally agree! I think if the clothes are still good, it's great if people can donate them to their local charity shops, (speaking as someone who loves to go thrifting, I appreciate it too!!) but if they're just about beyond repair, then I like to snip off the buttons, take out the zippers, and anything else on the clothing that I think I might want to use again :) It's also a cheap way to build up your stash!

That is a beautiful button collection you have! I love them all! I've had these crocheted buttons on my to-do list for a long time. I think I'm finally gonna get around to doing some because they are so pretty! P.S. I have been curious about the dolls you often have in your background, like the one with the red hair girl right behind you. I have also seen a blonde haired one in some of your videos. :) They definitely don't look like crochet. I am not even sure they're hand made. Anyway, they are so adorable and would sure like to know where I might be able to find little dollies like that!
@JaydaInStitches6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ella, Thank you for watching :) Those larger dolls that show up in a lot of our videos are LaLaLoopsy Dolls :) They were a really cute doll collection available at Toys R Us and Walmart stores over the last couple of years (but to be honest, I haven't seen any at local Walmarts lately, so I'm not sure if they're still carrying them!)
@ellafaith87606 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, LaLaLoopsy, now I remember! :D I thought they had kind of looked familiar but for some reason it just wasn't ringing a bell! Commercials for them used to play all the time years ago but I haven't seen them around in a long time. I wouldn't be surprised actually if our toy stores still carry them (I'm in Texas). I'm sure either of my daughters at some point asked for one whenever they were younger and she just didn't make it beyond the list. I don't know why because they are so adorable. Thank you very much for your reply!

Hi Jayda, I have a unique button that is not round but teardrop shape. Do you think this same round crochet casing will work for different shape buttons? Thanks
@JaydaInStitches7 жыл бұрын
Hi Debora, while the size of this casing might fit the button (if it's as large as these ones), the actual pattern probably wouldn't work. The centre would be off centre, which isn't bad, but the open work might cause the pointed bit of the button to want to slide out. A more closed in casing would likely work better :)
