My mother passed away in February of this year. She loved crocheting just as much as I do. She was in the process of making a blanket for my daughter, hook still in the stitches when we found it...after some googling, it was this pattern. I had no idea how I was going to finish it, as I'd never done this type of stitch before. I'm almost 100% positive that this was the video she watched to learn it. I now have full confidence that I can finish the blanket she started.

First let me say I am so incredibly sorry for the loss of your mother. But what an amazing piece of herself she left behind, for your daughter to have such a loving mother and grandmother and that she will have a blanket lovingly crafted by both of you . I hope you were able to gain the confidence needed and completed the beautiful blanket ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I tend to use a size larger for the base chain because I generally make it tighter and loosen up as I stitch the rows.

The most important lesson I learned today from you was the way you moved the yarn so it doesn't get tangled. I am a lefty, so this always happens to me. I'll try it your way and I am sure now I will always have no tangles. THANKS!!!!

I worked up a baby blanket in a small chunky apricot and white yarn with this pattern. I didn’t change colors but I just kept with the same pattern throughout the blanket. When I was finished it looked just like a vintage Chanel suit. It’s gorgeous.

Thanks for this tutorial. I never realized before that at no time are all 3 colors used in the same horizontal rows or groups. I’d always just assumed that there were all 3 colors in each grouping of blocks horizontally. Makes trying a Gingham blanket so less intimidating now. I’ve already got Black, Gray and White (or Dusty Pink) yarn on hand to try this out. Or, Navy Blue, Orange and White colors for my NFL team. Looking forward to both options when I finish up a few (3 WIP’s)!! 😂🤣😂😉. Thanks again for the concise tutorial.

Started this afghan, I find that out of the 10 stitches in row of one block, counting stitches numbered {1,3,5,7,9} are single crochets. The even numbers {2,4,6,8,10} are double crochets. Hope that this helps everyone. I just love this pattern. Be sure not to pull your yarn to tightly when carrying your second block yarn, it could distort the block. A measuring tape is useful to measure your blocks vertically and horizontally to make them perfectly square. A test swatch is essential for making sure that you have perfect squares. Remember that everyone crochets at different tension Strengths. Some people crochet loosely while others crochet moderately tight others crochet very tight just depending on each person's tension.

Absolutely love all your Gingham patterns and have been greatly inspired! One thing that I've found makes my life so much simpler is to carry the loose end along with the color change yarn. This way I don't have all those ends to deal with when I'm done with my blanket.

Have you made swatches with an agreeable color group, then turn them into a blanket? I think harvest colors would be lovely like that. I also think that the yellows remind me of 🌻 making green a good pairing color.
