THIS LOVELY LACE BORDER/EDGING, IS A VINTAGE DESIGN. THE FREE PATTERN IS AVAILABLE ON THE FOLLOWING WEBSITE: www.antiquepatternlibrary.org
IN THE SEARCH BAR TYPE, LADY DUFF-GORDON, BOOK OF IRISH AND CLUNY CROCHET, CLICK ON THE PDF TO DOWNLOAD THE PATTERN. YOU SHOULD FIND THIS DESIGN, CLUNY EDGE No. 1 ON PAGE 2. IN THE VIDEO I USE A DK 3 WEIGHT YARN, WITH A 3.75 MM HOOK. I HAVE MADE A SAMPLE USING SIZE 10 THREAD WITH A 1.5MM HOOK, I SHOW YOU THIS SAMPLE IN THE VIDEO. THE PATTERN ACTUALLY RECOMMENDS A SIZE 40 THREAD WITH AN OLD SIZE 10 HOOK WHICH I THINK IS EQUIVALENT TO A 0.6MM HOOK. I DO HOPE YOU ENJOY WORKING THIS DESIGN WITH ME, DON’T WORRY IF YOU CAN’T ACCESS THE PATTERN AS I DO ZOOM IN ON THE PATTERN SO YOU CAN DO A SCREEN SHOT IF YOU PREFER.

This is a beautiful edging! So many practical uses for something like this! Especially if used with different yarn or thread weights. This looks so complicated but you manage to make it so simple! Thankyou Your teaching skills are wonderful

Hi there! New subscriber here. I found your channel looking for unique intricate lacey baby blanket borders. Its almost 4am, so I was just looking around for inspiration, ideas and hopefully I'd find something I truly loved! And I did! This is so very beautiful and I already adore your teaching style and voice! I haven't watched this entire video yet, because its so late & I'm too tired, but I'm hoping you can answer one question for me... can this be used as a border to a blanket? Or is it only to be freestanding as you are doing it here? Either way, I want to learn it and I have many ideas for how I could use this in different projects, but hopefully you will be able to tell me if this can be done on a blanket border before I drive myself crazy only to figure out it can't work that way. Thank you in advance!!💜💜💜

I am sure it could be worked as a blanket border. I recently made a vintage blanket with a separate border that you stitch on and by doing that you can gather the lace at the corners to fit. It isn;t the easiest method but it did work and I love it the lace was slightly different but the same principle applies. I am hoping to show it on a video in the not to distant future. Thank you so much for subscribing 😊

Followed your tutorial and it worked out fine. I thought that perhaps three instead of four tr tfs may look better as I didn’t like how the spaces are a little cramped before and after. Perhaps it will look better when blocked, though I don’t always like to block. Do you block everything?

Thank you Mary. Yes I agree it will look better when blocked and it would be worth trying 4 lots of 3 st clusters instead of 4 st clusters. Good thinking 😉. No I don't block everthing I just lightly steam press and carefully adjust the lace as I go. 😊
