I increased in the row after the waistband by doing (8 double crochet, increase). And when the skirt got to about under my knees I increased in every 3 stitches to get the ruffle!

Hey sorry to ask but how do you increase? Is it like explained in the video like is it naturally happening or how do I do it (sorry if this is dumb it’s my first ever big crochet project so I wanna do everything as perfect as I can)

@Noah.kindawierd NAURRRRR THIS ISN’T DUMB AT ALL!!! So there are two ways to increase here! When you do the granny stitch your dress will naturally increase, but if you want to manually increase I suggest starting at the row after the waistband. If you want your skirt to immediately be ruffled, you’ll increase in every “stitch”. But if you want to gradually increase just a little, you’ll do 5 of whatever stitch you choose (like dc or hdc) then increase in the next stitch

How much yarn do i need for it?

It depends on what size you make and how many colors you use! Say you wanted to make a small with just one color, you’d need at least 4 350 yard skeins. Or if you want to make a large with 5 colors you’d probably need 1 skein of each color and then extra skeins for whichever color will be in the skirt the most.

@SkySolStar thank you so much! Our yarns usually have meters in them so it's very confusing when people use weight plus weight also differs on different yarns as well which i learned the hard way as a beginner but you explained it really clear thank you girl🩷

I used 8 different colors in total and I only needed one skein (about 350 yards) for each color and even then I didn’t use the whole skein. So it really depends on how many colors you’ll use. Like if you’re using 4 colors or less you should probably get more than one skein of those colors.
