Mini Top hat: 7/1.65 hook using floss. Chain 4 slipstich in first chain making loop to work in. R1: 8 single crochet R2: 2 single crochet in each R3: 1 single crochet in first stitch, 2 in the next R4: 1 back loop single crochet in each R5: 1 single crochet in first 3, 1 decrease R6to11: 1 single crochet in each (6rows) R12: 1 single crochet in first stitch, 1 increase in next R13: 2 single crochet in next 2 stitches, 1 increase in the next R14: 1 single crochet in each slip stitch to complete round. I do not have an American doll, but if I could get the head circumference i could work on one. Hope this helps!

DMC Floss is a 6 stranded divisible floss, they do not give a weight on floss.
