Why is it called a moss stitch? It's a single crochet with a chain?

It's just what that combination of stitches, combines with the multiple has always been called. It is also sometimes called the linen stitch, granite stitch, and woven stitch too. There is also a moss stitch in knitting too. Hope that info helps!

@@fiberflux I am always curious how these stitches get names lol. If you could, and this really helps me out, break down the stitch when describing them? I just saw the smock stitch one and it would be helpful if you broke it down a bit. I love your work and I'm learning a lot!
