I've been using Premier Puzzle Yarn, bulky 5 and I find that I have to do one extra round of increases for the hat to fit a 21 - 22 in head. They turn out beautifully. I love this pattern!!!

@@vexi1231 Less than one on a 250+ yard skein. Now keep in mind that changing hook gauges and yarn gauges will change this, but you can still do this.

Thank you so much for your tutorial I made this hat with you while watching and I used a 4 ply yarn but I used one strand only I used a bigger crochet hook, I used a size 8 and did the extra increase and it turned out perfect.... Thank you sooooo much

Hi i have made several of these hats. They are super cute and you r an awesome teacher and i love all your videos. I just wanted to say if u r using one strand of yarn and do a second row of increases you have to do 3 single puff stitches and then do a double puff stitch. If you do two single and then a double it turns out pretty big. Just wanted to share that

I love this. I ordered some of this yarn and it's really similar to a #4 weight yarn. To get the correct size for an adult, I ended up having to use a K hook, and then I used a J to make the band. I added a pretty rhinestone button at each side of the band. It turned out so cute! I know this pattern is from 4 years ago, but thank you! I enjoyed it!

Thank you for this tutorial. Your teaching method was easy to follow. I crocheted it using luxury aran and looks very neat for a loose crocheter, me. I will hash tag you on my social media. Unfortunately, the size of it came out small. used same size hook as requested by you. probably fit a small 9-12mth old. Mind you I only increased twice. Next time I will do the one more row of increases. Trial and error is good. It's a learning curve. if at first we don't succeed we try, try again.

I had abt 1/2 cake of bernat pop in hot chocolate I used for this, turned out wonderful. I just wish the band came at a place in cake that was a different color. The bill and band are same color...Just need to get a couple of pretty buttons for it. Not bad for my first hat of this kind. Thank you again Crystal, wonderful design and very clear instructions.. Hi Crystal! As usual I am a little late to the party but I did get here! I made this using Big Twist 5ply bulky. It worked up beautifully UNTIL I tried it on myself and my hat model. It is too tall! It started looking like it has a slouchy top! I stopped doing the increase rows when you did. I used a J hook. What did I do wrong? I don't mind frogging the entire project =) Thank you so much!

Hey Crystal, it made this hat for a friend and she loved it, but I want to make one for her husband. She says I might have to make the rim after the puff stitches a little bigger. Would just doing an increase all the way around work? If so, a) how often would I do the increase around, and b) would I do the increase in each row or just the first row and do regular single crochet in the rows after? Any help would be appreciated. This is a fun and easy tutorial. Thanks! I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how the hat is supposed to fit, though. I used two #4 yarn strands together to get the thickness. it looks great, but even on my big head it is kinda floppy, not very tight on the band area. Is that how it's supposed to be?
