Hey, quick question! Do you have a written version of this pattern? I have poor auditory processing and find it easier to follow written patterns! Beautiful cardigan btw, im hoping to try and remake soon!!
@twinsgardening8963 ай бұрын
I did my best, still learning how to write patterns: Back panel: Chain as long as you want the jacket to be. Chain two and start new row with double crochet. Continue rows of double crochet until you get as wide as you want the jacket to be. Video tutorial shows a total of 14 rows that is 16 inches wide and 26 inches long. Close off yarn and leave a long long tail for sewing in later. Front panels are the same as the back, made in double-crochet, but each is half the length of the back row, and the minus two more rows for each. So if your back panel is 16 rows, you'd split the back in half to be eight, then minus two each to be 6. On front panels, add one row of single crochet to what will be the inner side of the jacket. This is where the fluff will go. Optional pockets: Chain 12. Create next row of double crochet until desired pocket width. Video tutorial shows 4 rows. Make them the same width as your front panel, -1. If your front row is 6 rows wide, make the pockets 5 rows. Make two, unless you only want one pocket. Leave a tail long enough to go twice around the pocket for sewing. Video tutorial shows pockets being put six and a half inches from the bottom of the front panel. Line up the edge of the pocket with the outer double-crochet edge of the panel. Use a yarn needle to attatch the pocket, going into the top of each double-crochet stitch around the pocket, keeping it as straight as possible. If needed, you can clip or pin it in place while doing this. Weave tail in when done. Repeat same process for the other front panel. Sleeves: Chain as long as you want the sleeve to be wide when folded in half to create a tube. Create rows of double-crochet until the desired length. Close the long end with single crochet to make it a tube. Add a row of two single-crochets in each stitch along one open side of the sleeve. This will be the cuff and is where the fluff will go. Close with a slip stitch when you get back around. Close off. Putting it all toghether: Lay back panel flat. Put one of the front panels on top, lined up where it should go. Use the long tail, or single crochet or slip-stitch to attach the two along the top. Weave in end. Repeat for the second panel. Line up the shoulder edge of a sleeve with the top of the torso section to check how much space to leave for it. Mark the lower edge of the sleeve on the torso in some way. Below the marked area, close the front panel and back panel together on the side, either with yarn needle or single crochet. Close off yarn and cut. Repeat for the other side. Line sleeve up with torso section, with the seam of the tube facing down. Sew onto the torso section or use single crochet. Sewing might be easier here than crochet. Repeat for other side. Optional belt and belt loops: Belt Loops: Try on the jacket to figure out where your waist is. Insert yarn in the area where your waist is, create a chain of four, attach to the panel, close off yarn and cut. Weave in tail ends. Belt: Create a chain long enough to wrap around the coat and comfortably tie into a bow. Add one more row of single crochet all along. Close off yarn. Fluff: Cut around 6 inches of the fluffy yarn in sections. Keep one off to the side for measurement if you need more. Turn the coat inside out so that all of the seams are now on the inside, and the right side is now facing outward. Adding the fluff to the cuff: Separate a peice of fluff into five sections. Insert hook through single crochet space in the cuff of a sleeve. Pull some of the fluff through, forming a loop. With thumb and forefinger in this loop, pull the rest of the fluff through itself to create a slipknot that will attach to to the sleeve. Repeat for all stitches around the cuff. When done, brush through the fluff with your fingers to fluff it out more. Repeat for second cuff. For front open and top edges of the jacket, do the same thing, but with slightly longer sections off fluff. This tutorial has them 14 inches long. Optionally, you can do this with the rim of the pockets as well if you have enough fluff left. Finished!

Pheasant is a large long-tailed game bird native to Asia, the male of which typically has very 👉🏻 showy 🪶 plumage 👈🏻 probably why they name the yarns pheasant . It sounds out as an "F"easant.

How will the roving hold up though? I’ve read that roving is delicate and breaks down or mats over time since it’s meant to be spun into a finished yarn. Have you washed it yet?
@briannasipp Жыл бұрын
I haven’t washed it yet so I’m not sure, but you could try using fur yarn or just strands of weight 4 yarn in bundles. It’ll just have a slightly different look and it’ll probably hold up better if you’re concerned about it! If it does break down you can always replace them with the leftover yarn since you just knot the yarn onto the edges of the rest of the jacket.
@briannasipp Жыл бұрын
And according to the symbols on the label, you should hand wash it if you do end up using the showstopper yarn!

about how many yards do you think I would need to make an XL? I think yours uses about 666 yards of the main yarn, so maybe 800 - 900 yds?
@JennaLandes Жыл бұрын
for some reason, even though i am using a size 6 super bulky yarn and a size 9 hook, my measurements are not matching up with yours. i had to do 20 rows to get 16 inches for the back panel. do you have any idea what i might be doing differently than you?
@Charlie-ts7vq Жыл бұрын
Maybe it's your tension?
@briannasipp Жыл бұрын
Apparently I crochet pretty loosely so that’s probably why! It doesn’t matter if you do more rows than I do though, just try to make sure you get the correct ending measurements for your size
