Crochet Pumpkins for Table Decorations - Free Written Pattern

Materials:
Acrylic yarn - Size 4
Yardage: Approx. 200 yds
Hook: size 4 mm (G)
Rnd 1:
Ch-32. Ch-2 (counts as hdc). Skip 3, hdc across. Turn
(Total: 32 hdc)
Rnd 2 to 41:
Ch-2 (counts as hdc). Hdc blo in ea st till end of row.
(Total: 32 hdc)
Joining the fabric into a tube:
Ch-1. Turn.
Fold the fabric in half. Line up the sts on both sides.
Remove hook fr the back. Insert hook into front lp, pull up the back lp to join.
*Sc in each st till end*. Rep from * to * till end of row.
(Total: 32 sc)
Closing the top:
Sew the openings using simple running stitch.
Fasten with 2 double overhand knots.
Pull tight and secure with 2 double overhand knots.
Stuff the pumpkin with fiber fill.
Closing the bottom:
Sew the opening using simple running stitch.
Pull tight and secure with 2 double overhand knots.
Making Grooves on sides:
Thread 8 strands of yarn from top to bottom.
Pull a strand of yarn until a groove is obtained, tie 2 double overhand knots.
Repeat each yarn and space each groove evenly arnd.
Hide loose ends inside the pumpkin.
Stem
R1: Ch-5. Ch-1, sk 1 ch. Sc in next 5 chs.
(Total: 5 sc)
R2:
Ch-1, turn. Sc in next 5 sts. Sl st to join with beg st.
(Total: 5 sc)
R3:
Ch-1. Sc in 1st and 2nd st. 2 sc (inc) in next st.
Sc in next 2 sts. Sl st to join with beg st.
(Total: 6 sc)
R4:
Ch-1.
Sc in 1st and 2nd st. 2 sc (inc) in next st.
Sc in next 3 stitches. Sl st to join with beg st.
(Total: 7 sc)
R5:
Ch-1. Sc in next 3 sts. 2 sc (inc) in next st.
Sc in next 3 sts. Sl st to join with beg st.
(Total: 8 sc)
R6:
Ch-1. Sc in next 4 sts. 2 sc (inc) in next st.
Sc in next 3 sts. Sl st to join with beg st.
(Total: 9 sc)
R7:
Ch-1. *Sc in 1st and 2nd st.
2 sc (inc) in next st.* Rep. from * to * 2 X.
Sl st to join with beg st. Fasten off.
(Total: 12 sc)
Sew the stem on top of bumpkin with simple running stitch.
