Your doing a version of a granny stitch (the stitch used in granny squares). Your using 4 double crochet (dc) instead of 3. That’s fine. A lot of people do that to mix it up, especially if they have other patterns using the stitch.The 4 dc gives it a cute wavy affect, thus making it “chunky”. I don’t see anything to unusual. If you want a hint, you can leave the yarn ends about an inch or two and crochet right over them.I think that the perfect term for your cardigan is oversized. A lot of crochet instructors teach using measurements. You can use any yarn with the right hook to make the cardigan. That’s the beauty of using measurements. Nice job.

A chunky cardigan is called chunky because you use chunky or bulky yarn (weight 5 or 6), or you use two strands of worsted weight #4) yarn. You still could call your sweater chunky cause it’s big and snuggly warm. I just wanted to let you know (I hope that wasn’t snobbish sounding). It’s very cute. I’d like to do something g milked that with red white & blue for the Fourth of July, but I don’t think I have time this year.

Hii i loveee this i wanted to start doing this cardigan, i wanted to know if you used multiple yarns as in more than one package of the color red did you use, or did you just use one package of the color red. Alsoo good job keep it up!!!!!!!!!

It takes roughly 1200-1700 yards of weight 4 (worsted) yarn to crochet a cardigan sizes S thru L. I think she had 5 colors. So that would be between 250-300 yards each color. I would go 2skeins of each color to play it safe because you’ll need some for the border too. If you can only get one skein of each, you might just have enough.

My exams has started so i had to give a break since it tooks hours to make, alsooo i bought just one yarn of every colour and they werent enough so i have to order more... its a bit stressful 🙈
