I like it with alternating rows of hdc with single crochet. I really liked the look

When using this stitch for a blanket, can I use your method of only chaining one when beginning a new row, or will I need to chain two when beginning new rows?

Chaining one will make a tighter edge. I like to ch1 with Hdc

Great tute instructions = I subscribed to your channel. What brand of hooks are you using? That gel handle would be nice to use I think.

buzzwaffle I used a Boye hook. The gel handle is made of gel pen grips, got an idea from someone else's youtube tutorial. I switched to different hooks since then with a soft plastic grip, because their tip doesn't catch yarn like Boye hooks do. I'll be doing new tutorials with new hooks.

Ahh, you clever little minx. Thanks for your reply. I use the Boye adapter &/or an actual ball grip for arthritis, meant for pens & pencils, but easily holds crochet hooks.

If you wanted to make this into a thick scarf for a man what type of yarn would you suggest?

Janet Cornwell You can easily see the tops of each stitch in the top row and count them as usual. You just use the back loops only. Did I answer the question?
