make the sc as loose as possible and maybe add a sc increase on a few stitches so its not too tight

I’d try chain 72 plus 2 so chain 74, then keep going until your desired length

If you want it bigger than 72 than go up 6 plus 2 each increase until you feel it’s wide enough

Your tutorial video is very good but no one show how to do finishing with end 🧶 yarns ? When we change color so many yarns are on both ends.

Im not sure I understand your question, you can slip knot with new color and slip stitch it in, then after you will have to weave in your ends when you are finished with this pattern.
