I never count chain stitches now+ this has saved me hours of irritation as previously I could count my chains ten times+ get ten different answers. You are a brilliant teacher+ you have a talent for knowing exactly where we are are most likely to have difficulty, explaining it patiently so that we avoid problems.The small hook plus fine yarn = delicate waffles equation, seems obvious now that you have explained it in this tuition + I'm really grateful to finally be able to make delicate waffles.Thanks Alison

I love textured stitches for blankets. This has come along just at the right time as my Daughter in law announced last week she is going to be a new mum. I fancied doing a Cocoon but most of patterns I've seen use bulky yarns. I'm a visual learner and wondered Alison, do you think this would work in the round. Thank you for all your hard work in producing clear tutorials. 😊
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel4 жыл бұрын
i dont know try googling it, but what i was thinking you could do your chain row and join your work into a round. Work 5 rows of UK double crochet then start the waffle. Once it's long enough for your cocoon finish with a few rows of double crochet. Then to make the bottom close, with a darning needle and double yarn weave yarn around the bottom and draw it in almost like the top of a hat, you can even add a pom pom this will be the foot end that will make a cocoon.

Is the waffle stitch the same as the thermal st? And as for the border on this blue waffle blanket, even though the body is US terms couldn't the border be done in UK dc or US hdc? (1.5 sc).

I've just used this fantastic tutorial to make a blanket. I'm ready to do the border now. Can I check, it's two dc into every stitch down the side and then only one into every stitch on the row side? And after the first round, is it just dc into every stitch from then on? Thank you!

baby double knitting or the yarn your using try another bigger hook. The small waffle works best in thin or very thin yarn. If you are in the UK the double knitting from home bargains is amazing.

Nette Stewart I’m the opposite I get too bored with fast and easy projects such as baby cardigans, hats, mitts etc lol. 🤭 I love this channel and that Alison started making more and more baby blanket patterns, especially the harder patterns, it’s a better sense of achievement for me when I finish them. 😊 There’s lots of youtube crochet channels that have little projects. Not sure if you already follow them but *crochet for babies* and *crafts and crochet* have a great mix of baby garments.

I just realised something. I watched your tutorial and decided to make a large blanket for a single bed. I was trying to use up yarn I had. I started in cream, this pattern eats up a lot of yarn. I switched to raspberry coloured yarn. I started the new co,our on the right side of my Work. 420sts and 2 rows in I realised I should have changed colour on the wrong side of my work, as it really shows the stitches. What I mean is it is not neat 😭😭😭😭
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel3 жыл бұрын
aww no, Pauline I have done that before too. I also did a king size corner to corner then realized 8 rows huge long rows were done with yarn with a different dye lot and when held up it was like a beacon but because it was dark blue I didn't notice while i was crocheting so i had to rip out around 5oog worth i was gutted..
