Sorry if you already have this info, wanted to pass it on cause I love nothing more then getting fantastic yarn at a great price! If you happen to see this message, I'm finally starting on this shawl. I bought the Wrapsody yarn, and I'm just wondering if you pull from the middle when you're working with this thin yarn. I am envisioning a huge tangle of yarn if I'm not lucky!
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen, Yay, I'm so excited you're starting on the shawl! 🥳 I worked from the center pull; because I wanted the color changes from that starting point. I've gone through two cakes and had no issues. I was worried at first also; but was fine, as long as I pulled slowly. The only time I had tangles was having too much in a pile at once and then it easily tangled on itself, like yarn can do. I'd love to know how it works out! 💗
@karenh2890

@@cabinfevercrochet Was it fairly easy to find the start in the middle? It's so fine.
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 3 жыл бұрын
@@karenh2890 It was very easy to find, although a good sized blob came out! It was nicely wound and came undone easily enough. Being that it's so fine, you have to take extra care handling it; so just work from whichever end you're most comfortable!

@@cabinfevercrochet I am hoping this project will keep me occupied in the next couple weeks. My beloved mom passed away yesterday. She was nearly 91 and in bad shape the last couple years. Still, it is so darn hard. I am flying to Northern California tomorrow. We'll have a service next week. My older brother is having a rough time so I bought a one-way ticket. I'll return when I feel he's ready. Hopefully just a couple weeks. My husband will fly out a couple days before the service.
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 3 жыл бұрын
@@karenh2890 Oh Karen, I'm sorry to hear that. I know that even living such a long life, it's not easy losing your parents. It seems so final, marking the end of an era. Getting a one-way ticket is smart; so you don't have to think about it. I wish I had when my mom was passing, at age 101. I wound up staying over 2 weeks and had to change my flight twice. (I also flew back to Calif.) This project will be a nice one, with the easy 2-row repeat. I imagine your mind will be distracted; so as your work grows, I suggest checking the row as you go every so often. Then you won't have to pull out a long section if you have to re-do. I took crochet with me during that time and make A LOT of mistakes; but I didn't mind, as it was very therapeutic and I hope it will be for you, too. Your heart is heavy now; but I hope reflecting on the incredible blessing of having her in your life for all of these years will help get your and your brother through the grief of loss. Sending much love. Helene

Hi Helene! These shawls are beautiful. I was wondering if I can make this with just 199 yards . I want to make it sorta like a scarf but kinda dual function (scarf/shoulder cover) I am using Yarn Bee Soft Secret Ombre. I am prepping for my first Farmers Market and looking to setup in two weeks (a bit nervous for sure) I've been crocheting for years but have never put myself out there for selling stuff but for a few special orders. So, I've already made a beanie with my Addi machine and would like to make a cowl/scarf/shawlette to go with it and different from the one I have already made. Thank you so much in advance, sorry for the novel. Have a wonderful evening.
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 9 ай бұрын
Hi! I'm so glad you like them! I appreciate and enjoyed your comment very much! Congrats on your first farmers market! I hope it's a huge success and a lot of fun! That's great you have an Addi machine, to save a lot of time! Re. yardage, a medium wt. yarn definitely takes less and will grow faster. Size-wise, it depends. Petit-to-Average, possibly. If it's not enough yarn, consider using some from you stash for the border, to add extra width and length. Also going up a hook size, to a J / 6mm, might help stretch the 199 yds. even more. You can also place 2 chs at the beginning set of each row, instead of one, which will elongate the ends. Another idea, is to make my Dew Drop Baktus Scarf, where approx. 200 yards will do it, for sure, as a cowl and shawlette. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWGXi6KshZd1faM 💖

Hi. If it’s the Big Twist medium weight, that should work! I’d go up a hook size or two, depending on your personal crochet tension. That’ll help give more drape. Your overall piece will be thicker and heavier; but nice going into Fall. 🍁
