For beginners who have trouble locating the stitch markers, or maybe can’t afford them, I’ve found that paper clips work pretty well. I hope to buy some stitch markers, but for now, paper clips have been very useful for this purpose. I mark the first and last stitch of a row and it helps a lot! I’ve also begun taking notes of progress should I need to review and make sure that I know where I am at if I put it down and come back later.

It was a wonderful talk absolutely necessary for beginners. Liked all your tips. At present don't understand what is worsted weight but will find out. You saved me by suggesting the type of yarn and colour for beginners. At present have a cart full of variety of colors and types of yarns, just because I liked the color or wanted to try. Right away will empty my cart and get mostly acrylic yarns. Thanks for all your suggestions. And of will add stich markers to the cart.

I would like to know exactly what crochet hooks you use and a link would be helpful. I prefer the Susan Bates as well but am finding they are just too short for my hands. I like the ones you showed, both the gray handled and the polymer clay type. Thanks for all you do....I love your videos and FB page...you are so positive and motivating!!

I’m a 6-ish month beginner. I’ve tried weights1-6. I find I don’t enjoy 1-3 & I very much enjoy 4-6. Can I use a 4 weight yarn on a pattern for 3?
