My aunt taught me to crochet when I was 6, I used to carry it with me to school and crochet without looking during class. I started reading books after that and taught myself to knit, weave, macrame, basic sewing etc. Every few years I pick up the hook again and find I’ve forgotten certain stitches, need a refresher. So much easier to learn by watching someone do it. Thanks for explaining this 😊 Rest in Peace Aunt Jos🙏🏼 you had the sweetest heart ever ♥️

You're welcome and you've definitely learned quite a few skills. 😊 I learned how to crochet from my mom and then I learned how to knit last year from KZbin. Isn't it amazing how these crafts get passed down generation to generation. 🧶

I really like this stitch and I feel like i'll use it a lot. Are all rows worked in back loop only or is it one row in BLO and the other in both loops?
@JewelsandJones Жыл бұрын
Hi there, all rows are worked in back loop.

Hello, should i chain the width of my project or the length first with this stitch?

Hi there, this all depends on what you like. I've seen crocheters work up this stitch both ways.

Will this have a comparable stretch to the stockinette knit stitch? I want to use a stockinette looking stitch for a purse i want to mk but i don't want as much stretch as the stockinette.
@JewelsandJones Жыл бұрын
Hi there, yes this stitch definitely does stretch, but I think it also depends on the type of yarn you use.
@tammydeplata2526 Жыл бұрын
@JewelsandJones thank you! I'm actually in the process of creating a bag I want based on your tutorial now. I have to say, if I duplicated this stitch with knitting, it would definitely hv MORE stretch. But that's good since I needed my purse to not have that kind of stretch. Your crochet stitch definitely has stretch but not as much as a comparable knit stitch. It's perfect for my bag project 👍

Hi there, I loosely followed the Rylee Ribbed Beanie by Lakeside Loops. I ended up adding additional rows to the pattern.

Is it possible to get this knitting effect with the double crochet stitch?
@JewelsandJones Жыл бұрын
Mmm, I'm not entirely sure, because the height of a double crochet stitch is a bit higher than the stitch used. You could always make a small swatch though and see if it works out. 😊

I have been looking for a knit stitch in crochet. Do you do the half dc row again or just keep repeating the slip stitch row over?
@JewelsandJones Жыл бұрын
Hi there, you just want to continue repeating the same stitch for every row. So you want to make a half double crochet slip stitch.

Your video is very good and you have a lovely voice and a good way of explaining. I think it would be better to use thicker yarn for examples I can hardly see the stitches you are making. On top of that grey is not a great colour especially everything is so bright in the background. I think the thick pink yarn might have made a perfect example

Why am I struggling so much with the slip stitch? Is there a trick to get your crochet hook through all 3 loops at the end of the stitch? I just can’t seem to make it happen.
@JewelsandJones Жыл бұрын
Hi there, I completely understand, slip stitches can be a little bit tricky. I would recommend using a larger hook size than the yarn calls for and make sure you make the slip stitches loosely. This way for the following row, you'll be able to make the slip stitch/stitch easier.

I don't have the beanie pattern yet. I followed another pattern loosely and then did my own thing. I'm working on a similar one that's coming soon though.
