I have tried this pattern so many times and goofed each time. I finally found you. This is not easy as you think. I guess I am getting old. Only 74. Changing the color helped me immensely. It made all the difference to me. The variegateds are so hard to keep track of the stiches. Thank you for the solids. I do wish you would have done the one more row even though you said its a repeat. Evidently this is the row I had the problems. One more row please, only one. Thank you again. I want this shawl so much. Just asking why don't they just crochet the stiches the same in both countries? Sure would make it so much easier for us smart people to follow patterns. You are wonderful....

This is excellent, Olivia. I've just made this shawl for my 92-year-old mother and wish I'd been able to watch your tutorial before really struggling to understand the concept of the four-row repeat. Of course, once you've repeated it a couple of times... it dawns 🙄. Your demo and explanation would have made it so much easier. Love your tutorials... Oh, apart from your attempt at a left-handed demonstration. I hold my hook and yarn the same way as you do, only in the other hand... apart from the fact that I hold my work with my index finger and thumb and feed it across my middle finger.

I have always knitted this is aran weight (worsted in American). My favourite hook is a 6mm. I don't think you want this to be too tight, or else you will get a rather stiff looking shawl! xx May have used a 6.5 before too. Just choose your yarn and do a couple of rows and see how it looks. Should be floppy (in my opinion!) xx Hope this helps x

I love this video my first one came out ok and only I know where I missed up. but my question is what kind of yarn works best. I used the red heart yarn in stained glass and I think for my first shawl I should of used a heavier yarn due to I'm not use to using a light weight yarn and I am a tight crochet. I love how the yarn you used looks so net. thank you again.
@Girlybunches
@Girlybunches 8 жыл бұрын
Use what ever you like.. I like Double Knit so I can use a slightly larger hook.. this makes it really floppy and snuggly... if you use a lighter weight yarn it will need more yarn to work up to a decent size.. but really it's up to you. Thank you so much for watching :)

U need to tell us how many stitches are in each row at the end. That's why I keep getting it wrong. It doesn't add up and I have tried 6 times. I'm not a beginner but I have never done this shawl ever. People who are true beginners and doing some intermediate patterns need to know how many stitches and how many V stitches there should be before we work the 4th round. I love the work but I can't read patterns. I learned by watching others. I have tried to read patterns but it never turns out right. Please do another video with you telling us how many stitches we should have in each row.
