Thank you for the great tutorials you do. I've just started crocheting again after 20 years. The only thing I had ever done was a granny square, and I couldn't remember how to do that. I've only been crocheting again for a few weeks, but thanks to your video's my skill is increasing rapidly. I'm doing and making things I never thought I would be able to. Thanks again, keep up the good work.👍

I fell in love with the willow square on Pinterest and so happy to find a video for it. Love all of you videos. I made mine a little different the last 2 rounds I did one a single crochet round and the other a half double round and then did a back post stitch around to make it a little more 3d lol but I love the 3d look! Thank you again for all your hard work on bringing us these free tutorials

Hello!! I am fairly new to crochet and I find your videos very easy to follow even though I am in America and use the American crochet terms, I thank you for making it very clear what to do..... I do have a question for you or anyone willing to answer, why does mine look like a bowl!? I thought maybe it was because my stitches were too tight so I loosend them. I've even used a bigger crochet hook and they're all curling up into a bowl shape! Help! Lol 🤣
@bellacococrochet5 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, I'm glad you've found my tutorials helpful 🙂 What yarn is it that you're using? I've found that acrylic yarn in particular is prone to curling up, whereas cotton tends to lie nice and flat. You can block the squares once they're finished and that should sort it 🙂

this looks beautiful! Another newbie question: is this one of a billion granny square variants or is this just an afghan square? are the terms granny square and afghan square pretty much the same thing just different ways of saying it? or, is a granny square - though it has many variants - a specific type of square based on something in particular such that a granny square is an afghan square but an afghan square isn't necessarily a granny square? I want to understand things like that so I get a broader grasp on the vastness that is apparently crochet! ;)

What weight in US terms is dk yarn?
@aislinrose16 жыл бұрын
I am not sure the name, as I am not American, but I see no one has answered this yet so I thought I would try and help. As far as everything I have read in my grandmothers old crochet instruction book as well as the internet about yarn weights, it looks like DK can also be called 'Lightly Worsted' and is considered a Category 3 (light weight) yarn. So not something super fine or baby weight (Category 2) and not something quite as heavy as Worsted or Afgan weight (Category 4) either but the in between weight. My Grandmother used to also call Light Weight yarns, 'Shawl Yarn' or 'Doilee Yarn' but I don't think those an 'official' terms LOL.

How can we join these 2 willow square together
@bellacococrochet5 жыл бұрын
You could sew or crochet them together; holding the two squares with their right sides facing each other, simply sew or make double crochets (UK terms) through each stitch along. Another method would be to slip stitch through the back loops of each stitch: this gives a nice invisible join. If you have a practise with each method you will find out which one you prefer. Hope this helps 🙂

The hook size depends on the yarn, not the pattern 🙂 If you look on the band of the yarn you're using it should state which size hook to use 🙂
