When I tried the half double slip stitch it looked terrible and I didn’t use that stitch I ended up double crocheting the whole hat then at the end I did the forward half double backward half double to end it and it came out very cute so if anyone else has that issue double crocheting it also looks pretty! I love your pattern. I just have a question though. For the crown, I reached 11cm after 4th round itself at 48 stitches. So in the next round, I will start the pattern. But should I somehow make 60 stitches in the pattern, or just follow your steps to have half double crochet - slip stitch pattern, which would lead to 48 stitches in the next round? Will that make the hat smaller?

I’ve tried this hat three times now and I give up I cannot follow. I can’t seem to get the right number of stitches and then it ends up looking wonky.
