The Vivienne Westwood dress was my favourite item that you made but these bad boys actually stole my heart the instant I saw them finished. I am GAGGED, these boots are too good for this world. They are my heroes. They give me life. They encourage me to keep going. They fix all my mistakes. They go boing.

They look so cute! At the end when you were walking around in them, it looked so unreal my brain thought it was claymation at first. As a cosplayer, I'm not sure of what I think of the big red boots. Half of why cosplay is enjoyable is the making process, so the capitlism ones miss the mark for me. People need more hobbies and less social media. That's my take, I guess.

The big red boots are just speculative commodities. Usually it's a low stock item with a high msrp, scalpers and other speculative investors buy the low stock, and resell them at a supreme markup. They're able to do this because these items are typically "one run only" so once they're (instantly) sold out that's all of them gone, consumers that want the item for whatever reason are forced onto the secondary market where there is complete and total capture of the finite supply so prices soar. You'll see this with video games a lot as well. In the case of video games, the initial supplier could make another run of copies which opens an avenue for the consumer to purchase at MSRP. The result of that is that the prices on the secondary market will remain high with no sells and gradually lower as it becomes clear the primary market supply has returned. And when that primary supply dries up again usually the prices never inflate back up to that initial high as the demand is driven by a type of FOMO that's fizzled out. The difference being with the boots, there never is a return of the primary supplier and I think you have to wonder to yourself why that is. What incentive do these creators, the same with Supreme brand and limited sneaker runs, mechanical keyboard caps, etc... What incentive do they have to prop up this secondary market? Because they themselves profit from it as well.

I am so glad my algorithm suggested your video yesterday. Started with your Barbie dress video and couldn't stop binge watching. To functionally and fantastically mix knitting, crochet and writing shows that you are not just a wonderfully skillful crafter, you are also an amazing writer. Most importantly, you are relevant and funny! Thank you for telling your stories.

I’ve been binging your videos and it’s so refreshing to find a knitting/crochet content creator who actually does things properly. Not just chunky basic knits but using proper advanced techniques and paying attention to proper fit. Especially someone young who is an engaging fun content creator rather than an old lady giving dry advice. Plus I love your Micarah Tewers style of videos and chaotic creativity!

Honestly love these so much more than the originals, I could imagine these keeping your feet super warm, but without a plastic sole, they would lend themselves to be the ultimate indoor slipper! And considering how impossible the $300 versions are to put on and take off, there was no appeal to me, but this looks like fun! Now... where to find a ton of red wool yarn... haha, but also! Do you still like the wool? since there is also stuffing and a double wool layer, do you find them to be too warm?

They look cute. Reminds be of the slippers that are squish and stuffed like the ones that are teddy bear or shark shaped, etc, that you wear around the house. All in all, the boots made me smile.

Absolutely love watching knitters work through new processes :) The boots look fantastic! You'll need a minimum of 3 DPN's to hold the stitches and a 4th to use as the working needle, having 2 doesn't allow the fabric to stretch at angles and won't allow you to knit in the round. I think 5 total DPN's is the most common, 4 holding needles and 1 working. I've used DPN's for as little as 3 stitches, one on each needle, for a beanie before.

Your voice is so wonderful that it calms me down, and at times, lays me down to slep upright in my chair while stitching somethin'eruther, So, at this point , I can't listen back through and see if you are doing the waistcoat stitch on the upper boot.. If you are getting twisting as you said, then you may not be doing the waistcoat stitch right.. you've got to aim your hook at just the right spot on the backside so that you don't get twist, and stitches that don't line right straight up upon the one below, with no leaning. Otherwise, you're just doing rows upon rows of single crochet - that is not the waistcoat stitch. There's a video which is partly titled the "waistcoat stitch done right" that helped me in straightening out a rectangle sexual I was making, that did not keep good crisp corners like I wanted, but now does. FUNTASTIC PROJECT FINISH !!!
@ZhadeLang
@ZhadeLang Жыл бұрын
The twisting was due to a slight lean, but it wasn't as much as the normal single crochet stitch and wasn't a big problem in the end (fortunately). That said, it's good to know that it's possible to get a straight waistcoat stitch! Thank you for the tip and the lovely words!

the reason why your single crochets are leaning in the round whereas your half double crochets do not, is because you're doing the former incorrectly! but it's nothing to worry yourself over; most folks tend to do it the wrong way initially (myself included), i think because it's a bit fiddly to make sure the hook is going into the proper area on the single crochet stitch. here's a video that demonstrates the technique: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYTUqax3jq-kb5I i hope this helps for any future projects you wanna do using the single crochet waistcoat stitch! have a wonderful rest of the year, and i'm very much looking forward to what 2024 has in store for your projects. thank you for all of the hard work you do, and may your channel gain the popularity it so clearly deserves in the coming months.

wool is an apt material to contrast with capitalism because many many sheep are still grazing on public commons land or government land, right? So it exists because of communal ownership, essentially

lmao when you're only able to make your boots AS A RESULT of capitalism. I disagree with your critique -- capitalism is undeniably and inextricably related to freedom. "Things suck right now" is not due to capitalism per se, but rather (as you even mentioned yourself) hedonism. It is dangerous to attribute social issues to capitalism, especially because, by doing so, you aren't even getting to the root of the problem because the problem itself does not result from capitalism.
