This is actually the perfect example of a movie scene using humor to disarm an audience and then catch them off-guard for the shock just around the corner. CROCODILE DUNDEE is underappreciated for its great writing and directing.

I believe how hard those scales are that it would take a monstrous sized knife to get through all of that. I heard a story about a crocodile or alligator got ahold of a small dog, and the owner jumped on top of the animal and started punching away on it but he said the scales on that thing felt like punching stone, he cut up his knuckles badly so he gouged out the animals eyes and it leg go but the dog died from its wounds. I remember watching this in 1994 I just turned 18 and this part was a very scary part but also I was going through something right at that time and when I saw the actress cry afterward I remember I felt like crying because it was a very emotional part and it just brings back a lot of those emotions all these years later. Life is so crazy that way.

I was and I am still working as a graphic designer and car wrapper. Me and my boys did the layout and realization of that crocodile shaped Audi R8 that won the American LeMans series in 1999. Final race took place in Adelaide, Audi motorsports wanted something extraordinary so we came up with the Paul Hogan inspired idea of the Crocodile Dundee R8 and they loved it all. This just as a little side story to this wonderful movie that will still be watched decades from now.

Knowing what I know about crocs, that scene was ridiculous ! Crocs are much faster and more powerful than that ! They don’t sit still for a knife in the head, and it would’ve take that girl, not her canteen. lol.

A well done scene in a very entertaining movie. However, while I can suspend disbelief with the best of them, anyone who has seen a crocodile take prey knows she would never have survived that encounter, with or without Mick and his knife. She would have been pulled down into deep water in a second.

@Whoopdido777

@@mathematics5573 Yeah crocs fail all the time actually. But it seems like it’s usually because the wildebeest, antelope or whatever pulls backwards quick enough before the croc actually grabs onto them. They do still get away sometimes though if the croc doesn’t have a great grip on them. Actually what most likely would have really happened if this scene was real was that the strap on her canteen would have snapped before she got pulled in. Crocs are so powerful…there’s no way that strap could have not not snapped.
