This turned out to be one of the highest grossing movies of 1986. It wasn't expected, at least by the "Critics" to do nearly as well as it did. I think it's listed as a "Sleeper" hit. It made well over $320,000,000 at the Box Office, and critics were absolutely stunned as to how well it did at the Box Office. Another "Sleeper" hit that I can think of, comes from 1988. It's a little movie that you might have heard of-Beetlejuice. It made, I think, between $80,000,000-$90,000,000 at the Box Office. A lot of critics didn't like that movie, either, but hey-What do the critics know? They're just paid to take movies that they don't like, and rip them apart. In at least some cases, critics ain't nothing but a bunch of losers!

I just read Hogan's autobiography. He was just trying to make a nice little film for the Aussie market, it shocked everyone and the studios when it became a world wide hit. The sequels were the the result of the studios wanting to keep the cash flowing, the quality less with each one, but Paul liked the first two. Since then he has made many "small" movies, still aimed at the Aussie market, if they do well elsewhere so be it. He knew Croc Dundee was a once in a lifetime happening. Check out the best two after Croc Dundee, the very funny "Charlie and Boots" wherein he and his son travel by car from southern Australia all the way north to the top end, stopping at the Aussie Nashville, Tamworth in New South Wales, on the way, with plenty of breath taking Aussie scenery. After the end credits, there is a clip of Hogan and his 'son' driving over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Hogan observes "how'd you like to have to paint this bastard". That was his job for years before he became famous. "Strange Bedfellows" has Hogan and his mate Michael Caton, in deep tax trouble with the government, opt to have a paper marriage for the tax benefits. These two blokes are Aussie good ole boys, so watching them try to pull this off is very funny, eventually these two fish out of water wind up at Sydney's infamous "the Cross" district, in a gay bar, to learn how to feign being homosexual. All in good fun, nothing mean spirited in their interactions there. Michael Caton starred in the most popular comedy - and favorite film, period - in Australian history, "The Castle", even Hogan would tell you its better than Dundee. Its about a regular bloke trying to stop the government from taking his house, next to the airport in Melbourne. Caton's character is the Aussie Every Man, how they like to see themselves as. All three of these films are on You Tube. You guys will thank me later for hepping you to these 3 comedies, and that's fair dinkum, the dink di truth.

He was made for the role. If I recall when his first movie came out it was a huge hit. He must have made milions. Been so many years ago, but I think he made more than one of these Crocodile movies, but it never measured up to the first one.
@EtoTheKay3 жыл бұрын
You "think" he made more than one? Where have you been the last 30+ years? He made 2 more Dundee films after this one. Part 3 never shoulda been made tho. Terrible.

@@thyslop1737 Ohh come off it, acting like you haven't seen a movie in 30+ yrs. Everyone has a life, everyone is busy. People still watch movies. These films were heavily marketed back in the day, you would've seen/heard about somewhere.

@@EtoTheKay Watched that movie when I was kid. Do I remember the in and outs of his movie career? Hell, no! Calling me out on it. Get a life. I remembered that his Croc movie was quite good. Have not had a TV since 1999/2000. Movies? No. Rarely go. Most movies absolute garbage. Waste of time. Gave up watching sports eons ago.One billion commercials, media creating your reality, eight thousand commentators bloviating on utter nonsense. Yes, I value my time. Get on KZbin from time to time if it is something interesting, but they need to get to the point quickly. Have zero interest in Netflix or any subscription service. The wife on the other hand has the TV on as her babysitter and loves movies, has it set up in her office. If I peek in from time to fime what do I see? The likes of lying Lester Holt or Tom Broke Jaw or one of those nightly news zombies.

In the Rocky movies, the punches always sound like someone slamming a door. When I watched the Mayweather/Manny fight several years ago, I was disappointed at the soft sound of their punches since it was the first boxing match I really watched.
