For sure! I was trying to play this by ear on the piano, and I with Em, the intro sounded right, but the verses didn't. I then tried Bm/D and lo, there was the chord! Sir Elton John, you are a clever man.

@ProtestantLie you're right they aren't necessarily for beginners, but if you understand chord progression and different keys and basic technique you can learn all of these videos fairly easily with a little hard work and practice. Even if you are a true beginner, these videos can still provide "instruction" and make it MUCH EASIER to learn. Definitely not simply "showing off" at all, although you can't help but notice that because the guy playing is a hardened professional with the instrument

you need to listen carefully though, because while both the intro and the bridges employ the classic Em version of this progression, elton cleverly (and with great wit, i think) replaces this with Bm, for the verses. many covers don't appear to notice this, and thus miss the joke, as these presenters seem to have done.

practicing the rock technique of striking the black and white keys in one stroke gets difficult if your trying to play it faster but I think im starting to figure it out.

The Guy on the piano begins saying it's a very easy one and started wrongly.the initial chords of the intro are:G(B-D-G) C(C-E-G) G°(G Bb-Db).

@ProtestantLie No it's not really for beginners....it's just for people that want to play piano....the is no beginner way of doing this. It's not that hard, if you can't play this you should think about not playing the piano.
