Thank you so much. I want to study like this. I was classically trained and stopped b/c I wasn't enjoying myself. Started doing piano/vocal covers but struggle with getting the sound I want. For the sound to have the real flavor of the piece. You're teaching this. Just being able to get a bird's eye view. cool. thanks.

This is a great vid. The groove and syncopation are what make this song difficult to play. Don't give up hope, the song is pretty straight-forward. If you know the Ab major scale, you know most of the notes in the song already: were in Ab, and the skeleton of this riff is: 1 4 quick part--> 6 3 4 1 2 5 1 ie... Ab Db Fm Cm Db Ab Bm Eb Ab You can hear Scott say '2..5...1'@1:39 to end the phrase. Those bass notes just connect one chord to the other, albeit in a groovy way.

My goal is to be able to play Phil's piano solo from the movie Ground hog day. Any suggestions ? I am just getting started. what is the best way to be able to play this? Obviously I know I won't be able to start something like this right off. But that is my goal

love your series..however i frequently find myself trying to find the 'full' demo/sequence in each video..i wish there was a bit more structure, e.g. always play the full song to be demonstrated at the beginning/end...love the series though!!!

I hate the way they talk about how they own the music and not give away the whole song, seriously music is something we should all enjoy and if you are going to teach a song teach the whole of it.
