Hi mate, I’m currently doing an MX5 track build, I noticed on one of your last videos you were running M1166’s, how did you rate them? Also, do you have braided brake lines? Thanks!

Howdy. As with all things it depends on your driving and your expectations. When I was new to the car and getting used to it, the 1166 were ok, but I quickly found their limits and they don’t like being hot. They leave bad deposits on discs if you over heat them. I’ve since moved to PBS prorace pads, which for me work better. They’re a little noisy on the road, but they have superb longevity on track, they only really start to fade at the end of a very extended and very hard session, and even then, they never really stop working, they just drop off a little, to let you know it’s time to come in! If you’re looking for something a touch less hardcore, PBS do a pro-track which still has specs that exceed the 1166 but for about the same money. I won’t ever be buying a different pad for the MX5 (or probably any smaller car) than these. I don’t run braided lines, they’re a waste of money, and pure placebo. I suggest checks out the video by engineering explained, the physics don’t really support the fact that they make any difference. My pedal is rock hard and I have standard lines. I do run motul rbf660 fluid though, and I recommend doing likewise. Hope this helps
