rooneys career was stifled because of ronaldo. he never fulfilled his true potential. he was always shifted out wide or somewhere else because he was so versatile and ronnie was such a one position pony. I always remember how rooney was always setting up ronaldo but ronaldo virtually never ever passed the ball to rooney.

Even ibrahimovic said the only reason Ronaldo looked so good in his Utd days was because Rooney was doing all the work. Rooney was a special, special individual but he had it coached out him to become a 'team player,' which, by the way, mean setting up Ronaldo so he gets all the credit. I always maintain that, whilst he is arguably the greatest manager of all-time, Alex Ferguson ruined Rooney. I think he could not bare, as a scotsman, an English man being so talented. He made sure he just become a good team player. And don't say Rooney is overrated. Nobody rates or raves about him anymore so how is he overrated? If anything he is underrated.
