Cronologia #50: Vinhetas BBC Two / BBC Two Idents (1964 - 2021)

Na última cronologia, conhecemos um pouco mais da BBC One através das vinhetas. Agora, é a vez da BBC Two.
A BBC Two é o segundo canal de televisão da British Broadcasting Corporation para o Reino Unido, Ilha de Man e Ilhas do Canal da Mancha. À semelhança do primeiro canal, possui um cariz generalista mas com uma tendência a exibir programação mais especializada e intelectual, incluindo principalmente documentários, programas educativos, ficção e programas de interesse específico. Seu financiamento é assegurada através de uma licença audiovisual (licence fee), juntamente com o resto de canais domésticos da BBC e por conseguinte não inclui publicidade comercial nos seus intervalos.
Foi o terceiro canal de televisão a ser lançado no Reino Unido (a 20 de abril de 1964, após a rede de estações privadas da ITV) e, a partir de 1 de julho de 1967, o primeiro canal europeu com transmissão regular a cores. Foi concebido tendo em conta uma programação menos popular e mais ambiciosa que a do primeiro canal, e apesar desta tendência se manter até à data, a maioria da programação com um elevado cariz intelectual, cultural e de interesse específico (por exemplo o festival de música clássica BBC Proms) é agora transmitida na BBC Four.

In the last chronology, we got to know a little more about BBC One. Now it's BBC Two's turn.
BBC Two is the British Broadcasting Corporation's second television channel for the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands. Like the first channel, it has a generalist nature but with a tendency to show more specialized and intellectual programming, including mainly documentaries, educational programs, fiction and programs of specific interest. Its financing is assured through an audiovisual license (licence fee), together with the rest of the BBC's domestic channels and therefore does not include commercial advertising in its breaks.
It was the third television channel to be launched in the United Kingdom (on April 20, 1964, after ITV's network of private stations) and, as of July 1, 1967, the first European channel to regularly broadcast in color. It was designed taking into account a less popular and more ambitious programming than the first channel, and although this trend continues to date, most programming is of a high intellectual, cultural and specific interest (for example, the music festival classic BBC Proms) is now broadcast on BBC Four.

Wow, what a lengthy chronology! My best favourite ident from BBC Two would be, of course, the 1991-2001 ident. These idents from 1991-2001 sure has very creative concepts, and these were made by Martin Lambie-Nairn, which died on the Christmas of 2020. Rest in peace, Martin Lambie-Nairn!
