That's wonderful! Send her my regards - She'd have been a child a few years after Crook Street is set (1920), despite being the LMS then it would have looked pretty much the same. ATB

An amazing video of your masterpiece. Some really stunning shots. Although I live in Germany and obviously don’t know railways in the north west of England like the back of my hand, I have the feeling that Crook Street could have been somewhere like Southport. Certainly the architectural vernacular feels as if it could be. I enjoyed every minute of it!
@lnwrcrookstreet99542 жыл бұрын
Thanks Philip, yes it's my fictionalised version of Bolton. The real Crook Street was a large goods yard adjacent to Great Moor Street station and it let's me use real locations modified to fit my space.

What you must realise is the fact the same engineers built these railways so throughout Northwest England the style of buildings is very similar. Liverpool and Manchester railways started 1830 and by 1836 most of the Uks railways were built. I always think its quite funny that though the passenger trains had toilets and gas lights on board the majority of houses had outside toilets and were still lit by candles or Paraffin lamps. Some well into the 1960s.

Glorious! Am I seeing right? Your sleepers are grey? Your ballast clearly is. I have proven the running of my layout to my own satisfaction. Now is time to start to scenic it. I am looking for examples of LNWR practice to emulate....

Hi Kevin, thanks for your comments. I use a combination of Humbrol enamels, dark earth, brown, tan (for the rails) and grey. Sometimes the colour on the videos isn't rendered exactly the same as with the naked eye. Good luck with your layout, ATB.

Outstanding video yet again. I noticed the new addition of the Goods Shed and your shot through the office window brought real atmosphere to the story. A question, am I right in thinking that you don't use any form of automatic coupling, just 3 link ones? If so, your video editing is also fantastic, as there is no delay between wagons coupling up and moving off. Please keep these stories coming.

Thanks for your kind words Michael, yes I use 3 link couplings and yes it is the wonder of editing! (or you could say: cheating!)

It looks really nice! Which kits did you buy to make the coaches? Also, where did you get them painted? Cheers!
@lnwrcrookstreet9954 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Amazi, the 6 wheelers are Gladiator kits, the corridor stock is a variety from Sidelines, Chowbent and another I can't remember! Chowbent no longer exists but I think the arc roof coach is now available from Gladiator. I paint them myself. ATB...

HELP WANTED ~ Where can I buy an ex-LNWR full size standard miniature ground signal?
@lnwrcrookstreet99545 ай бұрын
Mine came from Scale Signal Supply, not sure if they're still going through. I did scratch build the first two but they're a bit of a pain. If I need any more I'll have to source some new ones, might be simply not available.
