Great vid once again Definitely have to give way to the CP 😂 The only constructive criticism I could make is your camera location because your head obscures a lot , like this vid when your were pointing out the other AC I realise there is limited mounting points available but something on the dash or forward of current position would enhance the viewer experience exponentially. Keep up the good work
@pcohen85Ай бұрын
@@RGF56 I wish there was a better place to mount the camera which would allow the controls to be visible. I might be able to come up with something better next season if I get creative with the mounts.

Really enjoy your videos. Curious about your thoughts on drones and how that will affect your industry.
@pcohen85Ай бұрын
@@tomjohnson6036 Thanks, Tom. Currently drones are helping my industry because with their limited capacity and production they are doing the work that is not profitable for the airplane to do. It would cost an astronomical amount for a company to produce an 8 motor contraption that is capable of matching my production and I do not see that happening at all. What I do see happening is an AI autopilot being outfitted to the planes we currently fly. That is a bit worrying and hopefully I won’t be replaced by a robot until I am ready to retire.

Someone in a 802 was fertilizing pine trees near my house and he was making his turn right over my house so I got a good look at him. His sound signature was so loud he sounded like a F16. His exhaust sound was extremly loud but not his prop. I mean this dude was LOUD. We have some smaller Thrush and one AT that normally fly around here but even loaded they aren't nearly as loud as this guy was. Any reason for this? He was spreading granular fertilizer.
@pcohen85Ай бұрын
@@johnnyholland8765 That must have been something on the airframe making that noise. I’ve never heard the turbine over the prop noise. Could have been something like the wind moving through his spreader or something like that.

A rough estimate, how much does something like this pay and what kinda experience is required? Any retired military pilot?
@pcohen85Ай бұрын
@@hoteltwonine5365 Pay varies depending on location and what crops you fly over. Experience required is more of an application and industry knowledge over pilot requirements. I worked the ground side for 5 years to learn the job before I got in the airplane. To fly the 802 you will need a few thousand hours and 500-1000 tailwheel time but insurance probably wouldn’t sign off unless you had time in the smaller Air Tractors. 802 pay in this area averages $350-400 per hour. I know a few retired military pilots that started spraying in their 40’s or so.

The airplane doesn't know the difference in a downwind or upwind turn. Ground track will be different but airplane performance is the same.
@pcohen85Ай бұрын
@@kenlott8488 Not entirely true when you are executing tight 180 degree turns in gusty conditions. It is the gusts that can create the problem because your airspeed will drop.
@kenlott8488Ай бұрын
@@pcohen85 You are correct but only for a split second unless you're flying in a microburst. The gust doesn't last long and then you are back to normal airspeed.
@pcohen85Ай бұрын
@ When you are close to the critical angle of attack sometimes it only takes a split second to ruin your day. These turns are closer to the limit than it appears and you don’t need anything like a wind gust working against you. If you don’t pull on it in a downwind turn you stay further inside the envelope. That’s my advice after thousand and thousands of hours flying like this.
@kenlott8488Ай бұрын
@@pcohen85 You have much more experience than I in that environment. Only way we could prove this is with AOA but, the wing doesn't need that device to know when it's over the limit. God speed from an old professional pilot with 60+ years of flying.
