I will always cry when I listen to CSN. Because I go immediately back to those years - a student at UCLA, in the midst of turmoil, discovery, love --- I want my kids to listen to them after I'm gone, to understand what formed the Mama they knew.

To me, Stephen Stills has always been an enigma. Such raw powerful vocal talent and guitar playing, plus an amazing songwriter to boot, and he has always looked like some guy at the office in either bookkeeping, accounting or Human Resources and not a Folk Rock legend that he is.

@@kennethpatterson6511 I agree Ken, like I have shared with one of my son's and his son, a lot of the music I was listening to back in the 70's, with CS&N being one of them. Regardless if Young was involved. I sometimes think about how underrated they are. One of the things that the internet has been able to do is become the meeting place for I guess, ''like-minded-people'' can come together (for free) and share a part of life with each other.....

@@montydaniels1054 You are SO RIGHT, Monty. Had a band for 20 years and we lived on CSN&Y tunes. I usually got to do the Neil Young tunes because I have the jerky lead guitar style, the over-driven chords and the soprano/falsetto voice. Only lacked Neil's talent....LOL. Met him once on a ranch at mid-coast California. He was fixing his fence and I was hiking. Very mellow cat and easy to talk with -- about guitars and amps (no surprise). He appreciated that I didn't "fan worship" him but I was thrilled to meet him. Here's to your grandson........Cheers.

Crosby was kicked out of The Byrds. By his own admission it was because he was an asshole. McGuinn described his as insufferable and he seems to have told the other band members they weren’t good enough to play with him. Nash left the Holllies out of frustration with what he considered a lack of creative direction and lack of interest in songs he wrote and was increasingly confident about. One was “Marrakech Express” as it happens. Stills was at loose ends after the breakup of Buffalo Springfield.

Graham Nash is such an animated performer - he and Bette Middler are among my favorites as they appear to be having the time of their lives every time they perform

We have lived in the time with Steven Stills, Sting and Greg Lake, who were all capable and able to record hit albums all by themselves but shared the spotlights with their groups to perform live for all of us, how humbling.
