There are some truly amazing air rifles that came out of the golden age of American air gun designs! I own a model 1400, which according to the serial # was made in June 1976. I bought it from a gentleman who restored the valve and pump mechanism, and I recall that he replaced the original pump cup with a modern one made of urethane, and now with 8 pumps my m-1400 is blasting regular Crosman lead pellets over 700 fps.

I have a Crosman 140 that I got from my brother in law who passed away and it sat for years and and the cup had hardened. I ordered a cup replacement. That is why I watched your video. Before replacing the cup I sprayed silicone down the compression tube and let it sit overnight. This rejuvenated the cup seal and now it pumps like new.. This is a tip for those who own pumpers.

Great Info, Nibs! Please do a video on pump rod adjustment for proper headspace. Lots of talk about it on forums, but no one's actually walked us thru the procedure like you could. Thanks !

Love the little details you give & the ways you use everyday tools to either take apart or press back parts instead of buying a fancy tool to do it with. Appreciate your time.

Appreciate the tip on using a punch for the brass washer. I just re-sealed my 102 and I thought it went smoothly but doesn't build pressure after reassembly. Back to the drawing board.

Hi. I follow your videos and appreciate them very much. I dug out my Dads old 140 with a bent pump handle and after following your video the seal process went great! The problem I have is how to get the wood pump handle off to straighten the steel pump lever. I don't want to break the wood because this was my Dads air rifle. I know how it happened. My Dad and his buddy over pumped it before they bent the arm and blew the seals. Any help would be great! Thank you!!!

The model 140 I have has an aluminum breach and a flat steel breach cover. I don't see a serial number anywhere. T he gun is in like new condition and after a little oiling it pumps up and shoots fine. I am trying to figure out its manufacture date. Also what kind of scope mount is best for these guns? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the video.

@@WalnutandSteel What about the old style cross-bolt safety. I've restored many rifles and shotguns but never a Crosman airgun! Can't see how the safety would come out.
@WalnutandSteel2 жыл бұрын
As far as the fore arm I have read you have to clamp the piece onto a sacrificial piece of wood, then drive the pins out of the blind side of the forearm into the sacrificial piece. This is to keep the tear out to a minimum but you will have new holes
@WalnutandSteel2 жыл бұрын
I will check out my 147 later and see how the safety is installed
