Mark Dever interviews John Piper about why he's not a missionary, the relationship between marriage and missions, and what tricky terms like "missionary," "unreached," and "calling" actually mean. This discussion helps clarify the distinction in role between the individual Christian and the local church, while also giving Piper the opportunity to squelch the notion that Calvinism kills missions and evangelism. See more panels and talks given at CROSS 2013 at crosscon.com.

During this interview, Piper was asked the question "is it right to say to everyone, Christ died for you?" As much as I respect John Piper, he circumvented the question, and didn't actually answer the question. He answered "it depends on . . . . . " Well it depends on whether or not the person to whom you're asking that question is a Child of God. Since you may not know that, and since the person may not be a Child of God, you can't pose that question, because if he/she is not a Child of God, then Christ did NOT die for him/her. Christ died for only those who have been given to Him by The Father, and that is not everyone.

Russell Thompson i hope you understand the context here? Jesus was speaking to the fact that Salvation was for the Jew first then to the Gentile. In John when the word "World" is used with reference to salvation or atonement it's used to denote "all nations," not just Jews.

John Piper is not predestined to go to hell. He will go there because he rejects the true gospel and embraces Calvinism.

Who cares if it’s considered a missionary or evangelical, just preach the gospel and don’t worry about the label

D F the question was more for defining the vocabulary among Christians but I think both would agree with you that getting the definitions right is far less important than actually preaching the gospel.

Piper really blows it at 42:39. Ask yourself how Jesus would have answered this question - Can I turn to someone and say, “Christ died for you”? - then listen how Piper answers it. Shameful. Calvinism is shameful.

Why would you have John the pied piper on. Matthew 7:15-23. Many will come to me on that day and call me Lord, and tell me about all their good works. How they prophesied in my name, and cast out demons in my name, and did many wonderful works in my name. But, they trusted in what they did and not what I did for them. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and Believeth on Him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day. John 6:29.Jesus, answered, and said unto them, this is the work of God, that ye believe on the one He has sent. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for His righteousness. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputeth righteousness APART FROM WORKS. Blessed is the man whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Jesus paid our sin debt in full, past, present, and future sins so we would not have to go to hell to pay for them. Romans 11:6. AMAZING GRACE, JESUS PAID IT ALL AND WE PAID 0. The gospel. First Corinthians 15:3-4. That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. The second we believe that gospel we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise. Born again. Born of God. Faith alone apart from works. Our works can not save sinners which we all are. Galatians 1:7-9 Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let them be accursed. As we said before, so say I again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received from us, LET HIM BE ACCURSED. John 3:18 First John 5:13. Faith alone in Christ alone apart from works for the free gift of eternal life. John 3:16-18. Jesus said it, we believe it, and that settles it.

No he does not. He does not believe Romans 4:5. He also believes you can lose your salvation. He believes we are saved by what we do instead of what Jesus did for us. He believes in faith plus works. Not Romans 11:6. Not Romans 3:26-28. He does not believe we are saved by faith alone. John 6:47.

@@jimkraft9445 he’s literallly a Reformed Baptist and Calvinist. The pillar of his beliefs are salvation by faith alone and perseverance of the saints.

Calvinism is heresy. Salvation is by a one time faith alone. Not by perseverance of the saints. We are saved. And we do not repent of sin to be saved or stay saved. Romans 6:23 For the penalty of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. The GIFT of God is eternal life. Not faith. Romans 3:26-28 For He is the just and the justifier of them that BELIEVE in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? By the law of works? Nay, but by the law of FAITH. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by FAITH apart from the deeds of the law. Galatians 2:21 I do not void the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Romans 4:5-6. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputeth righteousness apart from works. John 3:18 Believers are no longer condemned, but unbelievers are condemned already because they have not believed on the name of the Son of God. All believers have eternal life. John 6:47. John 6:40. And Christ died for the sins of the whole world. But, only those who believe it are saved. First Corinthians 15:3-4. Since Jesus died and paid my sin debt in full, I cannot go to hell because I have no sins to pay for. First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.
