@@mitchellc4 You misunderstand the person/essence distinction. No trinitarian claims that God is three gods, only that He is three persons. In John 8:58 and 10:30 Jesus does claim to be God, and throughout the rest of the New Testament everyone else calls Jesus God too. You may try to argue that they didn't mean that, but it's kind of hard to maintain that argument when we know that the disciples of the apostles, including Ignatius and Clement, explicitly say that Jesus was God. They got their information directly from the men who wrote the New Testament. Your argument is bad on biblical and historical grounds.

@@mitchellc4 If you think that Jesus never claimed to be God, then you must have read the gospel of John (if you've read it) with a veil over your understanding. There are plenty of places in John's gospel that Jesus made it abundantly clear that He is God. (Which is why the Jews tried to kill Him so many times!) Just carefully read the first 3 verses of chapter one. Note in v3 that nothing in all creation was made without Christ (the Word), which means of course that Christ Himself is an uncreated being and as such must be eternally existent. Right from chapter one, - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," it couldn't be made any clearer. Also see John 8:58 where Jesus took the name for God and applied it to Himself. When Jesus appeared to Thomas after His resurrection and showed him the wounds in hands and side, Thomas said, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus did not say to him, "Oh no, Thomas, I'm not God, you've got it wrong." (See John 20:24-31) When other people are recorded in the gospels as falling at Jesus' feet in worship, Jesus never tells them, "Oh no, don't worship Me!" (See John 9:38) One God? Absolutely! Three distinct personalities? Absolutely! Just because the human mind is not capable of grasping the concept, doesn't mean it can't be so. It just goes to demonstrates the limitations of the human mind! We are not God! 😆

@@MNVikes He can talk the talk, but he does not walk the walk. when it came to voting, he defended the idea of voting pro abortionists to power. He said Trumps anger and temper was just as violent as a liberals blood thirst for abortion. Who in their right Christian mind could say such a thing. He absolutely did not walk the walk when it counted the most and tons of his parishioners took comfort in voting for pro abortion politicians because Piper’s attempt at a lukewarm non response ended up protecting abortionists. His “yes it’s wrong BUT..” stance shows him to be a coward. I don’t care how “reformed” he is, he lets abortion continue in order to keep his tax exempt status and his parishioners in his pews. Sproul preached against voting for any candidate who supports abortion, even dog catcher. Our churches are WAY too beholden to the state’s tax-exemption threats.. let ‘em tax, let us not pay, let ‘em arrest us.. Gods Word HAS to be not only preached, but APPLIED to our lives.

I am so grateful for Gods Holy Word and eyes to read it and ears to hear it, and an understanding heart given me by the Holy Ghost to know that God is Sovereign and is worthy of all praise and glory.
