I am being courted by a Basel Firm. It is a 3 year contract. I am very excited but kinda scared. I have traveled extensively but first expat situation. I am considering to NOT have a car only rent occasionally on the weekends. I am wondering how hard it is to take public transpo over here to do the shopping, brining big backpack and bags. (I am an avid HOME cook, so yeah, let's get more variety for less $$!)...Any clues? Wow. Then the next video was the American lady on public transpo with the big suitcase. Good info, thanks!

How interesting! is it possible for people on a student visa (non eu) to do the same?

Great thing to do on the first sight, if you think about it a bit longer, it is not fair. From time to time going to shop in Germany, France or Italy is normal and many do so. But doing it all the time while enyoing a high swiss salary is a selfish practice. I think anyone who lives and earns their money in Switzerland should also spend it there.

I follow you. But hey... Germans on the polish and czech border are doing the same and go shopping in Poland in the Czech Republic.

I would only shop in Germany if I lived in Switzerland.

Why

The Switzer shopping tourism is one of the biggest problem for German people living near the boarder. Don't courage people to do it.

also one of the reasons you have so many shop's there. they spend a lot of money in germany. yes they get the sales tax back. But thats still a lot of money they stuff in to the local econemy along the border. guess the people working in the stores don't live along the border.

@@torbenjohansen6955 Why do they get the sales tax back? In Norway, a lot of people go to shop in Sweden because it's much cheaper there. Still, nobody gets their sales tax back.
