Question about your wrist positions: with a cross collar from guard, I know that strengthening your grip/throttling your wrist (like you're revving a motorcycle) can help apply extra pressure. Here, it looks like your wrists are flexed back toward your forearm/in a weakened grip. Is your wrist flexion one way or the other impactful for the success of this choke?

In this top side finish you may have some flexion as you start to flare your elbow up towards your opponents ear and put pressure on their trachea.

I have 2 questions: 1) how far apart are your hands when you grip? and when you shave his face with when bringing the elbow over? do you try to do it really quick? I sometimes have trouble getting the lapel under his chin but I try to do it quick and bring the lapel way over and to the front which is maybe too big of a movement.

Depends on his hands when I shave his face. Sometimes with a more pressure based application I can block his arms and go slow, sometimes I have to be quick. For this specific variation you want your initial cross collar grip deep. The second hand doesn’t have to be as deep. It’s like a hybrid cross choke/ paper cutter.
