Love what your instructor said about contact. So relatable to any discipline! Well done on coping with bunny Ted! I’d have been crying! (But then jumping isn’t for me!)

Yes!! She’s fab. And haha he’s harmless he just gets excited and it’s hard to know how best to proceed 🤣 afterwards my instructor said to just ignore it and carry on as normal 😭😂

Absolutely loved this video 💓 The voiceovers you added and parts where your instructor was explaining how to approach the exercise was incredibly interesting and helpful. You and Ted both looked absolutely fabulous! x

Awesome video!!! loved the breakdown of the jumps and the challenges u faced when u took him out xc. I was wondering what type of boots you take him cross-country in (:
@RidingWithRhi4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! He wears a pair of open-fronted tendon boots for XC and showjumping. I can’t remember the brand off the top of my head but there are tonnes out there. The only other boots I really use are overreach boots when lunging, just as a precaution really

Loved the video❤️ been following you a while now on insta and KZbin! Just wondering if you wear a body protector when you do XC?! & if so what brand because I’m trying to find one but need recommendations!!
@RidingWithRhi4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes I recognise the name! And Yes - I wear a body protector for all jumping activities and most cross country venues will not allow you on the course without one. Mine is a Champion body protector but if you want something more premium, I hear great things about Racesafe and Point Two Air Jackets.

Can I ask a question... so I have a new horse, he has A LOT of power and is bendy haha, and when standing or just starting off and a few times riding him for the 1st time today, he was tossing his head, kinda side and up, not pulling me but it unnerves me a lot... but coach tried to say he was just a little bored and nappy, and also that if I just hold on he'll take me right I just have to ride him, I posted on my Instagram about him, he's a big horse with yeah a lot of power, tough to turn but got there in the head. She tried to say how (because his ears weren't forward i got scared thinking he was angry) him snorting and the position of his ears meant relaxed and then moved them to what would be angry... its just hard to keep my confidence after he's done it, I get frightening very easily... how do you cope when Ted throws his head up or side to side??
@RidingWithRhi4 жыл бұрын
It sounds like your coach is right, but in the moment it goes against all of your instincts to relax and push them forward rather than hold on. Ted does the exact same thing at 10.03 in the video and initially I make the mistake of holding onto him until my coach shouts to just push him on, move the energy forward. As soon as I relaxed my hands and closed my leg, almost ignoring all of his bouncing / tossing head and focusing only on looking over the first fence - we were flying! Takes guts and is scary but it works 💪🏻

The word ( Breaking ) as in breaking a horse, i don't like that word. i would replace it with a word like (partnering) the word breaking is just a "wrong" word for a horse to hear..
