Each of your videos are like a gift I cannot wait to open. Your work is amazing and inspires me. Stitching came back into my life this year and thanks to you, I'm organized and more willing to undertake new skills. I'm taking out a beautiful 40 count fabric I put away and going to find a project for it. I can't thank you enough for the time and effort you put into the videos. From Southern California I'm sending you a big hug in Australia!

+Diane Koski Awwww that is such a beautiful thing to say Diane.... thank you SO much !!! Organisation is the key to more productivity, and of course uninterrupted stitching time :) Have you stitched on 40 count before? We can inspire each other :) I'm so looking forward to trying it and looking at those perfectly flat single stitches :) Sending a big hug right back at ya! Happy Stitching :) x

+Teresa Little Stitcher I'm so blessed to have met so many amazingly generous people within this community (yourself included!). I'm nervously excited to start on the gingerbread houses, but at the same time I don't want to waste all that money... so I will be ordering the fabric soon and then there will be no more excuses to put them off any longer :)

I love organising and sorting things too, Carolyn, and can totally identify with your need to have everything in it's place! A stitchy friend of mine got me onto your videos, and today (the 1st of Jan!) and I am sitting around guilt-free and indulging in yet another brilliant video. So very inspiring! Getting out some stitching now, and looking forward to seeing your progress on the SALs in the next video. Happy stitching!

+Melissa Jayne Hi Melissa, and welcome! If I can't stitch, I sort or organise... it's just as much fun and just as therapeutic. Beats housework any day of the week lol! Thank you so much for your lovely compliments - it means so much to me that people find the videos not only helpful, but inspiring. My aim is to encourage others to stitch while taking some quality time for themselves. It's helped me through some difficult times in my life and will continue to do so, I'm sure. Happy Stitching to you also :) x

I'm with you - I LOVE sorting threads! I still have several kits in my stash and when I pull one out to start I love being able to go through the threads and getting it all organized and ready to go. There's something so soothing about doing it, maybe because while doing so I look forward to how it'll all come together. You've had a fabulous stitching year! Wonderful, wonderful! I've never commented before because I found you to be an expert stitcher and thought to myself I could never done anything she has done but that all has changed watching and getting to know what a lovely lady you. I've received from encouragement because Im new to cross stitching and have to get my stash going. I want to do the country cottages in cubes like you did and hope I can post them on Stitch Mania when I finish on. Happy New Year too you and your family. Happy stitching

+Santos Rivera Thank you SO much - that is such a lovely thing to say :) I don't classify myself as an expert - I've just been stitching a very long time. There are many designs out there that make me incredibly nervous, but I enjoy the challenge and I find out more about myself whenever I attempt something new. I would love to see you stitch the Cottages.... they are so much fun and such a great decorator piece. Finishing them in cubes is super easy and very cheap! I'll keep an eye out on Stitch Maynia for them, but incase I forget, maybe you can tag me in the post :) Happy New Year to you and yours also :) x

+Radiante59 Awww thank you so much for those very kind words! If it makes you feel any better, there will probably only be about a third in my column this year lol! I'm going to be focussing on larger projects and more complex FFOs so it will be interesting to see how that pans out. Really need to get through my stash too, and resist buying anything new (not an easy task for me lol). Hope to have more tutorials up this year and showing how I organise things is a high priority. Thank you so much again :)))) Happy New Year to you and yours also :) x

OH MY GOODNESS what wonderful and beautiful work you have done, and so much, I think you must have many more hours in the day than the rest of us! You are so inspirational I want to do it all!! Thank you so much for taking the time to show us it all, and I look forward to watching you in 2016 and beyond!! Also looking forward to the tutorials next year. I only wish I'd found you and Flosstube sooner, but I'm catching up! Now, shall I go onto 123 stitch and do some shopping, or shall I do some stitching..........hmmm? Happy New Year to you and your family. Val x

+Val Wellings Haha Val, I assure you that is indeed not the case. I just utilise my spare time carefully and avoid any intrusions so I get around 4 hours of solid stitching done. It's amazing how much you can complete without interruptions. I stitch at night after everything has been cleaned and put away for the day, until the wee hours (I'm such a night owl). Thank you so much for the beautiful compliments, and I'm so glad you found Flosstube. It's such an inspirational site for stitching, but the downfall is you will probably buy things you hadn't planned on before lol! Happy New Year to you and yours also :) x

You've had an amazing cross stitching year. 71 is an awesome number of finishes - large or small that's pretty spectacular. Thanks for your tip regarding the Aussie dollar against the Canadian dollar. I've kept that particular seller on my list for the future. Looking forward to seeing your new and existing WIPs progress further this year.

+Ladybird Stitcher Thank you so much! It was an unexpectedly productive year :) I only discovered that little tip by accident, so I'm more than happy to help other Aussies save a few dollars. The eBay seller "samdaggit" is actually selling off their stock of PTB, so once it's gone, they won't be getting any more back.... so I'll be on the hunt for someone new next time. Until then, Nordic Needle sell theirs for $2.75US which is still pretty good, even considering the dismal Aussie dollar's performance of late. Take care and happy stitching :) x

+Teresa Little Stitcher The flatfolds are fantastic, and probably my new favourite finishing technique. A little bit fiddlier than the cubes (due to the glue), but the effect is so worth it... and I love that they store away easily because they're flat :) Vonna's blog is a piece of cake to follow, and she has so many inspiring photo's to look at too. Yay.. I'm so glad you liked it.... and happy to hear you'll attempt it again. I read a quote the other day (I love my quotes!) that said "Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of Fear". +BlimeyCatStitches Thank you so much! Yes last year wasn't planned at all, and I doubt that it will ever occur again.... just put it down to one of those freakish years without any explanation lol! This year I'll be focussing more on some of the bigger projects and designs that have been in my stash, or on my want list for sometime. There's nothing I regret more than buying something that I love then holding onto it for so long that I no longer have a desire to stitch it. So the plan is to stay strong and avoid too many temptations this year... fingers crossed ;) That flat fold was a lot of fun to complete, and not as fiddly as I thought it would be. I look forward to finishing some more designs that way this year. Happy New Year to you and yours also :) x

Also love the sheep patterns, I'd not seen those before! Your 2016 looks a lot like mine, looking forward to watching all of your beautiful work!

This year I'm going to try and stay true to items I've already purchased, before they become items that I change my mind on.... what a waste that would be! Those Advent Animals are super cute... Carolyn I want to say a sincere thank you from the bottom of my heart for the time and energy you put into delivering these wonderful videos. It was one of your videos that got me back in to stiching in August and since then I have learnt so much more about what is available to us as stitchers and different methods, products etc. I have watched many other wonderful flosstubers but you remain my favorite as I love your sincerity, compassion and obvious love for what you do. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Congratulations on all of your achievements in 2015 and may 2016 be kind to you. xxx

+Naydeen Frecklington Awww Naydeen.... you made me cry! I felt your sincerity and it touched me! My ultimate aim with my videos is to inspire others to do more of what they love, to try new things, and just simply enjoy this wonderful hobby. I had so many questions when I started out, and I had no-one to ask... so I know there are many people out there that are the same. Stitching shouldn't be a secret - sharing is caring and I love the fact I can help others that have the same questions that I once did. I'm so happy that you have benefited from that and learnt a few things along the way. I too constantly learn things and new ways to do things.... who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Anything that makes it more enjoyable will always be a benefit and it means I can get more done. This community is amazing and I'm so grateful to be a part of it. You're right - I'm very passionate about what I do, because it's been a life saver for me, my stress and overcoming hurdles in my life. If I can help only 1 other person, then I will be a very happy person indeed ;) Thank you again for everything you said - it means the absolute world to me!

Wow!!! What a great video... Your finishes for 2015 are amazing - your new starts for 2016 are awe inspiring... Your organisational skills would put most work places to shame... You wouldn't think of standing for government would you? Perhaps then we might get something done!!! Seriously Carolyn, you are an inspiration!!! I too have LHNW's Song of the Season - I happened to buy it from someone who was selling it here in Australia - she had kitted it up and then became disenchanted with it. I got it for a very fair price - she had completed the first section so I have two to complete... Giggling here now - she stitches in the opposite direction!!!! So I have to be very careful as I stitch - and she stitched it on a piece of 32 count linen - not something I would choose myself but it has shown me I can do it - I am usually 18/28 or 14 count person myself... Watching you and others on floss tube have re kindled my love of this craft and although I am a slow stitcher I have gained patience which is something I have never had a great deal of... I have chosen not to participate in any SALS as I have had a bit of a zen moment re my stitching. Rather I intend to concentrate on those projects that bought me joy when I bought them (some - 10 years ago)and bring them into the light... But before I sound too virtuous - I have a wish list that is as high as Everest ;) I too, love single thread stitching and as you say no worries about threads laying straight... Ok enough from me... May I wish you and yours a fabulous and safe New Year's Eve and may 2016 bring forth all of only the best things. Take care... Sharon - Melbourne * Wouldn't a stitchy weekend retreat be good for somewhere in the future ;) ;)

+a stitch today - the rest tomorrow Awww thank you so much Sharon for the beautiful compliments :) I laughed out loud when you mentioned working for the Government. I would love the pay packet, but not the work.... they argue too much... and I don't like conflict, so that definitely wouldn't work for me lol. Song of the Seasons is gorgeous isn't it? I'm trying to decided whether to do that for my week 4 WIP (which still hasn't been decided!) or a bit later on in the year. You're very brave to stitch something that has already been started by someone else... I haven't tried that yet - I guess it would have it's own set of challenges. I noticed that quite a few people stitch with the top thread opposite to how I do it, and I often wonder why, because all the charts with instructions (that I've seen) show it the way I do it. The end result is the same, so it's irrelevant.... except for you and your current predicament - hope it works out well for you. I've been tempted by 2 of the mystery SALs already this year, but like you, I really want to work on items in my stash that I truly love and are already kitted up. I guess it's that old FMO (Fear of Missing Out) that's rearing its ugly head again. I think you have given me the strength to feel that I don't NEED to do them, and I can enjoy watching other's progress on them instead. Last year I bought about 300 magazines from someone selling their entire collection, and I've made an incredibly long list (I think it's possibly even higher than Everest!) just from those mags.... and I told my husband when I bought them that I wouldn't need to buy anymore charts again, that there would be enough in those mags to last me a lifetime. Well, I've only stitched 1 chart and continued to buy more... so what does that say about me???? That I have no willpower when it comes to stitching lol!!! So, you have now inspired ME to stitch from my stash, and just buy supplies needed, so thank you...... but I make no promises lol! Happy New Year to you and yours also, and YES a stitching retreat would be AWESOME!!!!! Happy stitching :) x

You certainly have had a productive year!! Congrats! That is so impressive and inspiring! I had my best ever stitching year with 4 finishes, i had only ever actually finished one medium sized project before (And a handful of teeny ones) so the fact that i had 4 FFOs was pretty awesome for me! I have some of the Gingerbread patterns by Victoria Sampler on my wish list too, they are SO beautiful!! One day!! Good thing i didn't know about the Santa's Village SAL, i fell in LOVE with those little patterns and have them all on my wish list (Along with MANY other Country Cottage Needleworks patterns, hahaha), i'm thinking next year i will stitch them. I loved watching your video as I stitched tonight! You have finished so many amazing things and have so many other wonderful things planned. Your finishing of projects is stunning, I can't believe they are your first! I have bookmarked the Twisted Stitcher's Tutorial blog as I really want to learn how to ffo some of the projects I've had finished for a long time that are just sat in a drawer. I also wanted to thank you for your tutorial on the pin stitch! I tried it for the first time with my 1st Jan new start (a small Chatelaine) and I love it! I will definitely be using it in the future. I also agree the PTB is wonderful as I hate metallics usually, and apart for threading the needle, I have had no problems using it so far. I hate lots of Country Cottage charts, some of them their early ones I believe, so if there are any you're searching for let me know and I might have them here that I've already stitched.

+Lisa S Hi Lisa! Thank you so much, it was great to stitch along with you ;) I've always been into crafty things.... I made fabric covered photo frames and tissue boxes many years ago, so I guess it's always been in my blood. I'm not very inventive to think up things for myself, but I can follow instructions really well :) You're going to love her blog... it's amazing and so very inspirational! I hope one day to have as many gorgeous FFO's as she does. I hope that 2016 is going to be your year for completing those finished projects into beautiful ornaments you can enjoy :) So glad you liked the pin stitch - it's wonderful isn't it? My only regret is not searching for it many years ago... would have helped me out so much. I just knew there would be others like me that hadn't seen it before, so I'm happy to share it around and make others' lives easier ;) Yes, love my PTB.... just wish it was cheaper here in Australia. So many resellers charge ridiculous prices! Oh, thank you very much for the offer! I'm actually hoping to get a lot of my stash used up this year (well I hope to make a dent in it, anyway) before they turn into those projects that you end up wondering why you ever bought it lol! I have so many things that I fell in love with and bought, only to put them aside for other things.... but then I guess we're all guilty of that. So I have more than enough to get me by for a long while yet, but thank you anyway.... I just need to stay away from eBay hahaha! Take care hun and happy stitching :) x

Light Effects on left, PTB on right :) E3821 - PB03 E168 - PB04 E415 - PB70 E135 - PB15 E703 - PB52 E699 - PB20 E818 - PB206 E321 - PB07 E316 - PB13 E3837 - PB11 The only one I couldn't convert was E317 because there wasn't a shade close enough in the PTB range that I liked. So I figured, that using just 1 shade of Light Effects wouldn't kill me lol! Happy stitching :) x

I'm addicted to cross stitch and to you, lol. I stayed up last night to 12:30 so I could finish watching your video. So much to keep in mind and learn and just drool over. I was so excited to find out you are doing the Oz characters because I'm doing them now. I'm only doing 8 of them since they mean the most to me. Unfortunately I ordered the DMC light effects and just hate them. I got some Treasure Braid to replace some of them. Where did you get your conversion card, I need one of them badly. So far I've done Scarecow, Dorothy and am working on Tin man. Tin man is about 80% metallics and I think I've goofed up on him because I can't decide what braid to use or how many strands. I'm doing them on 1 piece of fabric. I love your gingerbread houses. You give me lots to think about. Happy New Year to you and family

+Pam Ford Wow that is dedication.... thank you SO much! That is probably normal for me to stay up until that time, although I really regret it every single morning lol! Aren't those Oz characters simply adorable? I love them to bits... I just want to stitch all of them up right now, but I've commited to the year long SAL and must be patient (what's that lol). Yes, I don't like the DMC light effects either. I came to that conclusion while using them on my Save The Stitches project :( .....They're evil! I got my PTB conversion card from Nordic Needle. It's item no #15059A Color Card - Treasure Braid Petite and it cost $16.75US. I found their PTB to be well priced too, at $2.75US each. I'll probably be using them for future purchases of PTB unless I find somewhere closer. I'm doing Scarecrow next, and so looking forward to him - he looks so cute with that straw sticking out :) I wasn't sure how many strands to use on Dorothy either, but I opted for 2 strands in the end because the coverage looked a little better and I was quite happy for these designs to be REALLY sparkly :) Are you on IG Pam? If not, can you tag me next time you post them on FB?.... I'd really love to see them, especially all together on one piece. Happy New Year to you and yours also :) x

Hi Carolyn, I'm fairly new to stitching, but am quickly totally in love. Many years ago (probably 30 insert shame face) I started a couple of projects, a tapestry and a cross stitch, which I am now going to dig out and complete! You have inspired me to pick up where I left off! Am currently stitching a birth record for a friend, and hope to have it completed within the month! Deadline is the christening, might be a push but I'll do my best. I have a question though, how shall I clean it before framing? Thanks for your advice! I really enjoy trolling through your videos, you have so much experience and your followers, is a joy to open my iPad each day and tune in!

+Jeanette Whitmore Hi Jeanette and welcome! I'm so happy to hear that I've inspired you to finish your unfinished projects... there is no greater feeling than when you finally complete something that's been bugging you for a long time. If your project is on plain fabric using DMC threads, you can wash it. I follow the guidelines according to the dmc website and I have never had any problems with washing my projects. www.dmc-usa.com/Education/How-To/Care-and-Wash/Care-and-Wash-Cross-Stitch.aspx If, however, you are using hand-dyed fabrics or hand-dyed threads, I DO NOT recommend washing at all, because they are not colourfast and the colours will run. I heard a good little tip that you can use to check that the colours won't run before washing (although I haven't tried it myself). Slightly dampen a cotton ball and lightly dab it on the thread at the rear of your work. If any colour comes off onto the cotton ball, then the thread is not colourfast and will run. As I said, I haven't tried this idea yet, but it sounds safe enough to give it a try if you need to. I wish you all the very best in getting the birth record finished... what an amazing gift! Happy stitching :) x

Hi Carolyn, I just received Sue Hillis' Twas the Night as a Mother's Day gift from my son. 💖 He included all the called for threads (Sullivan's) and the called for fabric (30 ct Light Khaki linen). I remembered you had stitched this piece and just rewatched your videos about it. I know you changed out the gold border colors for DMC 3821 on the inner border and Petite Treasure Braid PB01 for the outer border, using 1 strand. Since I am not using an opalescent fabric like you did, do you think 1 strand of PB01 would still be nice, or would you tend to use 2 strands? Also you said you had bought 4 cards of PB01...did that end up being enough while using 1 strand? I always so appreciate your opinion and advice. Absolutely LOVE your videos! Thank you!

Quite a year for you, amazing amount of finishes! Congratulations and can't wait to see the new projects coming in 2016. You didn't include your videos in your list of accomplishments, especially the tutorials, they take a lot of time , preparation and editing to do. Could you give me the name of the Canadian guy you got the petite treasure braid from, Sam but I'm not sure how to spell the last name. Hope you have a lovely time for New Years, my son in law got me a hotel room with a hot tub for the night. I'm going to Lush to get some lovely products and just relax and Spa myself. lol I'll be overlooking the harbour where the fireworks will be going off and I will get some lovely food from room service to treat myself. I can't wait!

+jillipepper5353 Thank you so much! Yes I guess I should have included them... but then everyone would think I didn't have a life .... apart from work and stitching, I guess I don't lol! The eBay seller is "samdaggit", but just a word of warning..... he/she (not sure which) is running down his/her stock of PTB and won't be stocking it anymore :( So get what you can now. I found the prices to be very cheap... especially considering what Aussie stores sell it for! Oh I'm drooling over your NYE plans... hope you had an amazing time, I'm sure you did. Happy stitching :) x

Hello Carolyn, still loving your stuff. How many hours a day do you stitch? Does it interfere with your family. I was wondering if the married stitchers have hubby problems from the hobby. I started stitching when I was 15. I did it on and off and rarely finished anything. Now that Im retired I finally took it up again and am working slowly and I am finishing things. Ive been cross country stitching but going to do my first parking. Tent stitching doesnt appeal to me I think it doesn't cover the fabric to my liking. I have to say your lady in the bathtub look fabulous in tent parking! I am going to do the parking on a pattern I had done of my pit bull Dozer. I will send you a picture when Im done! Thank you for helping me learn more. I just wish I could stitch faster. Have you shown your equipment yet? Your hoops, stand, clamps and how to use them? I so want to learn more. Thank you Caralyn!

+Patty Smith Hi Patty! You have done spectacular.... 52 is an amazing achievement!!!! Trust me when I say, I doubt that I'll ever have a year like that again.... it definitely wasn't planned to go that way lol! I'm so looking forward to starting the Sheep Virtues, but I have a few smaller ones I think I'll get out of the way first, because that one will take awhile. Looking forward to getting through some of my favourite stash items this year. So great to see you're doing videos.... I'm sooooooooo far behind on watching, that I've actually got out of the habit (slaps self on hand).... I've subscribed and I really look forward to watching very soon. Happy New Year to you and yours also.... Big hugs right back at ya! :) x

Thanks for a wonderful video again. A wonderful portfolio of you amazing g work throughout 2015. Inspires me to get more stitching done to finish more. Think for me planning my time. which leads me onto in the video I see you showed a portfolio you bought for you projects. I liked this idea assuming that you were going to use it to file notes etc about different projects. I bought a haed lisa parker one. So I wondered if you could please share what sort of info you plan to store in your portfolio. As I hope to do the same as part of my new idea to plan more etc! plus the little cards you write up. Please could you send a pic of front & back so I see how you lay it out to fit all info on. You have my email or we chatted on messenger through Facebook. Do you plan to store this cards in your portfolio with details of the project?? Still not had a go at pinbroidery yet! will do! Thanks Carolyn! xxx

+Jane Louise Reeves Hi Jane! Thank you so much - it was a very unexpectedly productive year :) As far as my portfolio is concerned... I use the month per page plan to write which projects I'm working on each week eg Week 1 is my Santa's Village SAL as well as my Brooke's Books SAL. I also make notes here for any particular days I need to specifically do something, as it's my first go to page that I use as a general reminder. At the end of each week, I write the total hours I spent on a particular project (if I kept track of time.... I don't track time on all my projects). Then in the week per page view, I just make a note each note of which project I worked on, how many days I've currently been working on it, how much time I spent on it that night, and for my HAED I also note how many stitches I achieved that night. If had to frog a section, or make a note of something in particular regarding the project, I write that in this section also. So for example.... last night looked something like this: HAED Mini Bathtime.... Day 52.... 730 stitches... 4.22hrs. I also have an "Expenses" page for each month in my portfolio. I use this section to write my finishes and FFO's for the month. It includes the date, name of project and the Finish # or FFO # for the year. This is a new setup for me, as last year I actually kept 2 diaries... which got quite time consuming to constantly update them both. So it's going to be a bit of trial and error to see what I keep doing and what I actually change. I have good intentions with things, but sometimes I find it's not worth all the trouble, so I change it up. The project cards won't be stored in the portfolio (it's just really a diary) because I won't be able to shut it. Last year's cards just have a rubber band around them and have been stored in the drawer, now that the projects have been finished. When I'm working on a project, I keep the project cards in the front pocket of my plastic folder that contains the chart and color key, as well as any extra threads needed for the project. It stays there as a reminder to me of which SAL it's part of and notes that I like to make on my IG post occasionally. Can I send you through the photo's tomorrow on FB inbox, if that's ok? I've just managed to answer a few comments tonight before dinner and I'll have more time tomorrow afternoon, after the housework is done. If I haven't done it, just send me a reminder through FB inbox and I'll get it done. Sometimes things crop up and then I forget. Take care, and I'll chat with you soon :) x

I'm loving your videos and and projects! I only found Flosstube a couple of months ago. I love it....everybody's videos and pictures! Sometimes I like it too much, buying too much. +Sharon Lisi Thank you so much Sharon! I know exactly what you mean!.... My wish list has grown to unmanageable proportions due to other stitchers showing their amazing projects, but that makes it more fun. I stitched my Blue Dragon on 18ct Aida, but you can stitch it on whatever count you like. Just bear in mind that the thread amounts have been calculated for 25ct fabric, so if you use another other it will alter how much you need. Happy stitching :) x

Congrats on all your beautiful finishes this year. I love watching your videos and have been marathon watching through them while stitching. I've gotten back into stitching this year and your videos and flosstube have motivated me to start and finish more projects. I was just wondering what is the shipping like with 123stitch? Since I live in New Zealand and there isn't much range/choice for cross stitch patterns and kits. Thanks :).

+Sasha Kostenko Thank you so much Sasha, so happy that I can motivate you to do more. I absolutely adore 123stitch. Their service is second to none, in my honest opinion. My orders are always shipped promptly and I receive them within 2 weeks of ordering, whereas some others overseas have taken longer. They also keep me well updated during the whole progress. Although I don't find the shipping expensive, I do tend to do bulk orders these days to get the most out of the shipping costs, which appear to not go over $20AU (and I've gotten a lot within those type of orders). Hope that helps :) x
