You forgot to put in France 2 - Israel 3, with a last minute screamer. Cost France the world cup and retired Cantona, Zinola and Papin from the national team, making room for Zidane, Djorkaef and Henry. It is still Israel's biggest win ever.

France Not Making it to USA from the point before the Match against Israel is just still incredible.

​@@86CIP86The big question there is how they would have done it with the team they had at that time. But that is just like Brazil in 1982 who didn't make the final. It was a qualification towards the world cup with surprising results and a lot of great star players who showed great skills during the world cup. And Norway qualified for the first time since 1938 in one of the toughest groups with teams like England, Netherlands and Poland who had great results. The most annoying thing I think about is that Norway didn't get such a high amount of goals against San Marino in the away game as England and the Netherlands get. The referee didn't give at least 3 penalties in the norwegian away game, so the result was just 2-0 to Norway and not 5-0 as expected. But that is history now.

@@Inge.BorthneWe will never know ;) Norway was very unlucky going home from USA with 4 points, when all 4 teams of the group got 4 points. Also incredible... I was just 7 these days and did not see many matches. Germanys (my countrymen) defeat against Bulgaria I did. Rumania and Bulgaria were both just fantastic. Rumania even more to me with Ilie Dumitrescu, Florin Raducioiou and of course Gheorghe Hagi. Legends. (I did not see anything of that these days, only 2 decades later). The goal of the century is to me Kostadinov's one in France, concerning the meaning as well as the goal itself. On KZbin there is another video Road to USA on which I saw that goal for the first time some years ago and was overwhelmed. The good old times will not come back...

The qualifications were extremely hard these days dued to just 24 Teams taking part. Denmark only lost the last match but it was not enough.
