Crossbills at Wykeham Forest and Red Grouse at the Moors

Well done on seeing the Crossbills, let alone photographing them. I think I've only seen them once, and that was near a raptor watchpoint at Haldon Forest down in Devon, but that was long before I was into any kind of photography. Red Grouse I saw up on the moors near Glossop many years ago, but again that was in my pre-photography days. Keep up the good work! 👍👍👍

The only 2 occasions that I've seen Crossbills were at that same Raptor viewpoint. I'd be quite pleased with those photos...so well done :)

Crossbill is always a tricky one as they like to sit at the top of the trees, Red grouse nice photos and using the car as a hide is usually the best way to get them well done.

I'm following you or your following me, was at Wykeham viewpoint on Sunday the 4th, lots of Crossbill when I was there. Good to see you showing distant shots, can't get show stopping photos all the time, that's wildlife. Keep the videos coming 😊👍

@@twitcherspictures As a gardener I totally agree with you on the weather, the birds don't seem to be liking it much either. I was at Abberton reservoir the other day, one causeway was all but deserted and from he other, there were diving ducks en masse. At least the passerines are beginning to sing so hopefully they know spring is on the way. All this rain and storm after storm wears a bit thin. No doubt we'll have a hosepipe ban in a few months. Ah but the water fringes will be adorned with a nice selection of waders, so it's not all bad.

Ilkley moor for red grouse and stainburn forest otley for crossbills I’ve not seen them mind not through want of trying lol I don’t know if there’s a best time to see them

Thanks for your comment Dominic. Not sure on best times. I think now for crossbills but spring time for red grouse maybe.
