This is really important though. When I got my first crossbow I had no clue what the hell I was doing. And I blew my first string out after 30-40 shots. All because I didn't lube the rail. Hope more people catch on to how the lube properly. Thanks for the video man

Been enjoying all your fall series videos. I purchased a Barnett Black Cat last season and love it. Very simple recurve model. I use the bow wax on the strings and for the rails I spray silicone on a shop rag and wipe them down. Seems to work well. Loved the Promiscuous Doe Segment! Dave were you on a couple Spotted Cows or was that all natural? Best of luck to your camp this season!

@KnettersPracticalOutdoors
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors 11 ай бұрын
I never have, but you're right things are different at colder temps. Might be a good idea to for sure use an oil based lube on the rail instead of a wax based lube in real cold temps. Both are considered good options by most manufacturers.

so I have been doing research and some people say to put in on the middle and some say you don't have too because of the barrel lube. Also were the cams are I mean there is wax on there would it hurt to put a little if it starts to dry up?
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Yes, I know what you're saying. I think the fear for recommending those ideas would be that some would over lube.

Hello, I have a question that I would like to ask you. I tightened the main bolt connecting the bow head of the barnett XP380 in winter, will it damage the components due to expansion in summer?I screwed it very, very tight, so I wonder if thermal expansion will affect the parts

Never really noticed maybe because I try to keep the rail lubed all the time. I guess it does add a few FPS compared to a dry rail though from what I've been told.

Can we use coconut oil or kerosene on Crossbow rail...
@arbyjack2552

I think kerosene would eat the material on the rail. At least discolor it. I would NOT use it.
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I would stick to the light oil or light wax they recommend.
@disband_thebbc5933
@disband_thebbc5933 Жыл бұрын
I definitely wouldn't recommend kerosene as it's corrosive. Most of the rail lubes are silicone disulfide oil based some have added PTFE for friction reduction, you can find silicone disulfide based oil for treadmills much cheaper. You can make a paste wax for the string and cables with bees wax and coconut oil. However if you are still covered by the warranty it's advisable to stick to the recommended lubricants and maintenance schedule.
