I would be interested in a comparison with, for example, a long wire 20 m long. Will this antenna be better?

It depends on the location and external noise level. If you are at a very RF quiet location say the Australian outback the the external noise will be below the amplifier noise so the 20m wire is better. In typical urban or suburban locations both antennas are limited by external noise. The advantage of the V4 loop is that the twin loop design has very sharp and deep nulls typically 40 dB down. It can be rotated to null out the strongest interference sources so in this situation the signal to noise ratio will be better than the 20m wire. If you cannot erect a 20m wire you can still use the V4 loop antenna with very good results indoors.

i dont get it.. i only put 10 watts on the antenna.. but its no function no more..

The antenna is a receive only antenna. Your 10 Watts of RF power will have blasted the internal amplifier.

It's the Motorola GP300. I think it's probably the best handheld radio ever made, makes all the others look and sound like toys!

Seems to be an awesome product as usual from you Chris. A thought: is it a good idea to mount one horizontally and another vertically to get both high and low radiation angles the best possible way, or is it overkill? Best 73's from Sweden

It's probably overkill! Mounted horizontally it needs to be at least 1/2 wavelength high at the operating frequency to get a lower angle of radiation than a vertical loop. It's really for those who live in a tower block many floors up who would see the improvement.

Yes the antenna can be used indoors as well as outdoors. It's small enough to fit on a window sill or fit through the hatch to the attic or roof space.
