Fascinating! I’ve watched many of your videos multiple times. I’ve tried a few of your designs and have a couple of questions. One, how do you prevent lines from smearing when you move your ruler (besides talent and experience!)? In addition, do you have special techniques to prevent “blobs” of ink when you draw from a specific point multiple times? Thank you so much

Thank you very much. The short answer is - use permanent markers and pens! The ink dries almost immediately. But if you don't have permanent ones at the moment, you have to paint carefully. It happens to me too, even my last few drawings are not so clean. When you draw a line, press with one hand in the middle of the ruler, then with the other hand pick up the end of the ruler and lift it up. This is the way to lift the ruler without moving it to the sides and spreading the not dried ink. A big problem is that ink remains on the ruler, so you have to clean the ruler after each line. I just rub the ruler in my pants and the ink disappears, of course you can use a napkin. The spots that appear in certain places when you draw many times from one point - this is again because of the pen. Different pens soak differently in different paper. If you get too big spots, replace your paper or pen model. I mostly draw with Schneider pens. A few years ago I could put the pen on the sheet for 10 seconds and it didn't soak at all, but now they have changed something in the ink, the last Schneider pens I took make big spots of a lot of ink :( So now I'm looking for other brands of pens that will work but are cheap because I don't like spending a lot of money on materials. Some time ago I used some Turkish it said MAS on them, and they were very good, I just don't see them in the shops anymore. I also have a pen that is Japanese or Chinese, I'm not sure, weird letters, I can't understand the brand name. Incredibly thin pen, not permanent, but incredibly thin and does not soak into the paper. So my advice is to go to a store and try all brands of pens on paper. A bonus trick - try to have two pens, one new and one old, the old one always releases a little ink, so you can draw more slowly and accurately without staining the paper. With the new one you fill and color. When the old one is completely worn out and dries, the other one becomes old and you buy a new one. So you never draw precise lines with a brand new pen that releases a lot of ink and stains.

Edward Black Rose - Geometry Wow! Thank you so much...it makes sense. I have Sakura pens (those suggested for Zentangle) so will get them back out and try those. Have a great week and thank you for posting your videos.

I use the cheapest pens I can find in the shops in my city. They are not something special that is worth it. Also, sometimes my friends give me old worn-out pens from their work. They are no longer suitable for writing, but I use them for painting because they release a little ink and do not soak into the sheet. When I make precise details, I use such old worn low-ink pens.
