The videos I like the most sometimes seem to get the least views. The life of a traveling musician must be rough. It's always extra special when the performers enjoy what they're playing. You can always tell when it's love. Those who get it, get it; those who don't, don't. C'est la vie.

I'm fortunate enough to have seen him with Bowie. Or, unfortunately only with Bowie out of those three. All depending on your half full/ half empty disposition (and with the BA power trio and Crimson Projekct). Anyway, Adrian Belew is pretty much what any musician should aspire to. What a player, what an absolutely super guy!

Yes, youre lucky to have seen him with those iconic artists. I was blessed to witness him live only once with Bowie, the incredible 1978 Heroes/Isolar World Tour. Belew was stunning, with his 5min intro to Station To Station a mindbending display similar to Hendrix. Would of loved to have see him on the 1980 tour with The Heads.

Are you kidding... It is one of *THE* greatest all time albums EVER! 👍 Out of my over 2500 albums on vinyl and over 7000 in FLAC, Remain in Light is absolutely in my top 10. Pure magic! That and the album that David Byrne did with Brian Eno called My Life in the Bush of Ghosts are among my very favourites. I don't mean to upset anybody, but I hear Byrne now, his caterwauling that is the EXACT same on EVERY song, and I wonder what the hell happened. It was that group that held him up and gave the songs some semblance of true rhythm and very compelling compositions. If you have the opportunity to listen to Jerry Harrison's albums, primarily The Casual Gods, I'm sorry, but he has more talent in his little pinky than David Byrne could even DREAM of... Jerry's compositions are awesome, catchy, and bloody great! David's current stuff, again my apologies, is the most insipid, bland, boring stuff that I've ever heard. And HE had the gall to leave THEM! (quite rudely by what I've read) I've seen Adrian Belew both with Crimson and by himself, and yes, he is one of THE most creative guitarists out there. Even Tina Weymouth and her husband Chris with Tom Tom Club came up with WAY better, more fun and engaging stuff! (I just bought Chris's book and I can't wait to read it! 😁) Yes, Remain in Light is just *F'n STUNNING!* And, by FAR the very best album they ever put out...

I have had exactly three first time hearing with headphones experiences where my consciousness was elevated forever. First time was Dark Side of the Moon, second time was Aja by Steely Dan and Remain in Light by Talking Heads. I love all the ‘usual suspects’ of music but those three records all had me in tears (of joy) at some point.

I bought "Remain in Light" on the strength of "Once in a Lifetime". I truly was not expecting THAT. What I can't get my head round is there was only a year between that and King Crimson's Discipline. I must have listened to RIL a hundred times during that year.

@@multi-purposebiped7419 ‘Lost my shape - trying to act natural…..’. Kind of summed it up for me - at the time, it felt strange that there could be this music and that life could carry on, as humdrum and mundane as before. I was smoking quite a bit at the time though!!! 😂

I was in high school and saw all of the new wave bands: Cars, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, Tubes and Devo, among others. None of them did much for me. I remember being reluctant to see Talking Heads but within about 15 seconds I was bopping and thought I was hearing about 4 bands playing different songs in unison. It was the energy of the cosmos meeting the tribal fire.

Agreed. Women musicians do not tend to get the respect they deserve. You can always counter this with a few small examples, but typically it's surface over substance. More women should be respected for their own individual gifts or contributions or enhancements. I'm more scared of a world of men than a world of women.
