I’ve watched Sheltering Sky of most previous shows. ANYONE who was at the Thousand Oaks show _should_ realize what WE saw that night from Vai … was DIVINE INTERVENTION!!! 👀😮💨 I felt it that night (as did the crowd that flew outta their SEATS before the song was over for a STANDING-O), and just wanna verify it. Verified!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘 Best night of the tour I’ve seen so far!!

It's refreshing in this time of strife in the US and the world to see a group of players and audience members showing great enjoyment and happiness to be in this together; maybe there is a chance of a utopian world of equity among all life and care for the planet we all share.

Get tickets to your local show if you still can and enjoy the experience.

Hell yeah! I saw them last night in Atlanta. Had been wanting to see these songs live every since I got into King Crimson when I was 16, which was about 14 years ago. NEVER in my wildest dreams, did I imagine I'd get to see Adrien and Tony up there with one of my idols in Danny Carey (I'm a drummer myself), playing all these wild, experimental songs. The fact that they got Steve on guitar is overkill, but in the best possible way haha. I've never even been a big fan of Steve but I always appreciated his immense talent, and the way he's able to play so smoothly while still having tons of soul. I honestly am not sure if there's any other guitar virtuoso that could fill in for Fripp as well as he's doing right now.

Something that is important here is that Danny, Steve, and Tony all had university educations in music; Adrian got his on a fast track with Frank Zappa; basically, the theory is my reference point. Granted, there are great players who've not gone this route, but having that education gets you faster to this high level of playing. Being able to read music and understand chord structures, voicing, and altered chords, including modes, is very helpful in creating and understanding how the music makes feeling and raises your musicianship. In a college situation, you do lots of ear training, keyboard harmony, composition and many classes, but also you're around others who can be learned from.
@tracycramer48172 ай бұрын
I'm getting an education from your post. Really. Thanks!
@wowzee8982 ай бұрын
@@tracycramer4817 An easy answer to having a higher education is. Would you go to anyone but a doctor for medical issues? Most states provide a free undergrad degree at state universities; your studies are paid for with pell grants and state programs; you have to pay for housing, etc.; however, you can borrow for this coverage. The key things a higher education helps with are understanding critical thinking, the scientific process, scientific inquiry, and how to do refrencing and vetting the sources (IE peer review). These skills alone go a huge distance in helping a person to understand the world around them and not just follow opinions. A music program does the same in its own way; you have a nice tool kit and grab the right wrench; you don't waste time. I took some lessons a little while back, and the best advice was don't play something incorrectly; slow down as much as you have to to learn it correctly. If you practice something incorrectly, you have to correct it, taking more time. This is advice that covers all fields of study in different ways. I'm very lucky. I started music school right after high school and then returned to a university many years later. I now have three bachelor's degrees and graduate studies, all crossing four domains. I have an average IQ and had straight A's. I now have an interesting toolkit of information I can reference, allowing me to hang with just about anyone, realizing my limitations in any subject but able to keep up in some areas and/or ask good questions and continue to learn.

The list is changing; I suspect since the music is difficult, it can be tiring physically. Steve Vai is working his right wrist, which has had surgery. Steve mentions the relentlessness of Fripp and his parts in one of two videos. You will see Steve and Adrian shaking their hands at points. Also, they probably have at least 3 hours ready to go, so they can pick and choose. They also play different solos while sticking to the original "licks," embellishing as an improviser does.
