Gregor, great video as always! My apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but is there a way to discover the acceptable parameter values for a command with arguments? In this example, one could reasonably guess the crossfade time would be a positive real number, likely indicating seconds, but what about the other parameters that you didn't enter? It seems that it would be good to have some parameter guidance when double clicking on the command and entering values!

I have a Macro/Keyboard-Shortcut set up to split events according to my range selection and then do the auto-crossfade at the borders (Strg+Alt+X). It's a huge timesaver when editing Voice Over or Vocals and I just want to attenuate or accentuate a single word or syllable - without the crossfade this can produce an audible jump in Volume. Highly recommend it! However I would welcome a option to disable fades being applied to all selected events. I work on a podcast and especially when working in feedback after most of the edit is done, it involves moving around a lot of parts - which means having a lot of stuff selected all the time. So I then need to deselect everything to work on a transition of a newly inserted section, then go back and select everything* and move it back into place. There's been a ton of Ctrl+X during this process because I've only noticed I had been applying fades or length-adjustments to everything but didn't notice because I was zoomed in. *By the way - is there a way to enable VCA- and Bus-Automation alongside Events? I always have to select those independently

Hi there, This video is great but i want to select the crossfade and only the crossfade. When you click on it, the left and right enements are also selected, so when you delete the crossfade, you also delete the other left and right crossfades. Simply try to create macro similar to example in video, but instead of using "Create Crossfades" choose "Create Autofades". In arguments you can specify the length of the fades. Then you can add a new shortcut or assign "X" keyboard shortcut to this macro, if you will.

Hmmm. Any explanation for why Removing Crossfades is giving me inconsistent results? I'm on Windows. I'm following all instructions. I made a Keyboard Shortcut: Shift+Alt+X. I select multiple events. I add the X-fades. I adjust the X-fades. Then I test selecting and deleting them. Sometimes it totally works. Sometimes I get nothing (no matter how many attempts). Sometimes it adjusts all the crossfades between connected events, but not the initial fade-in of the first event or manual fade-out of the last event. Are "fade-ins" and "fade-outs" NOT to be included in manipulating Crossfades? EDIT: As I experiment more, it seems that the keys must be hit at exactly the same time, else I get "Split at Cursor" or "Create Crossfades" (according to the Undo History). And if I've done more than one round of creating crossfades, only the latest gets removed. So, I can mostly make it work now.

Great that you can remove them. Can you remove a slice? And when I change the layer content of an event why does the original layer disappear forever? (it's not in the list of layer content) this is a problem if you decide later you want the original layer restored. For example I'm comping a drum track with 3 layers and slice before and after a drum roll and select other layer, I can the always change that layer but the original is not an option, it's like it's lost forever.

Brilliant tips! 👍👍👍 Remove Xfades - finally. Gregor, does this also remove fades? I mean if there are (for example) several events selected, with the 1st having a little fade in, the last having a little fade out, and crossfades between them - will this remove ALL fades, or just the Xfades? A "Remove all fades" command is also useful, like Cubase/Nuendo has.
@22jmike2 жыл бұрын
Nope, it removes only crossfades, fade ins and outs stay in place. It is easy to check in S1. I've tried every possible option, and it seems that you have to do it manually on event level (Ctrl + click on triangle in a corner, or set fades in inspector to 0). You can try to build "Create Autofades" macro, with argument set on 0, I've tried but in my S1 this particular macro behaves a bit unpredictable.

Every time I watch one of Gregor's video-I have to remind myself that it will be several years to catch up on all these tricks. Truth be told, I couldn't discern any change watching the video-maybe it was the genre of music? I think I stumbled onto Crossfades after recording a guitar track. It changed the whole guitar track and rendered it unusable. I can see this being useful with anything but rock/blues in a standard time format-3/4 or 4/4 time. Trap/LoFi/Rap genre's use more electronic sounds. But I digress-I am nowhere near a power user. Still- was interesting to see how to invoke the command and the 3 tricks. Maybe I will try this with vocals. Thank you Gregor.

well, I figured out one thing - you have to capitalize the first letter of your choice from the list Gregor mentions. "logarithmic" won't work. Gotta be "Logarithmic". Also, the number setting goes opposite from what I expected (1=stronger, 3=weaker).

"equal power" is just a standard linear crossfade. You could consolidate two events that are crossfading into each other with the "G" key. -GBY

@@presonus from Logic pro manual: EqP (Equal Power Crossfade): Results in an Equal Power crossfade.
