This controller is great. People posting negative comments need to go and use one. I have used / owned most top end decks and controllers and this offers amazing performance and features at a fair overall price. Alpha Theta have added features to the GRV6 that are found on a lot of the premium DJ gear: joystick (opus quad), STEMS (FLX10), layout (CDJ3000 and A9) and a groove circuit which is a ton of fun. It works really well, sounds good and can be used with Rekordbox on your iPad / iPhone / computer (most other controllers cannot). It’s going to take people a while to understand this controller and experience its capabilities. Once you’ve used it, you really feel like you’re missing features when you go to other gear. Overall a great product from Alpha Theta 🎉

Wrong ! I've had both. Grv6 is 10xs better than flx6. Has 1/4 trs balanced outs. Flx6 had only rca. I guess a lot of djs don't have the deep pockets to buy these controllers, so they complain without ever using it. Great review. Peace out

AT turned into an overpriced clown-company. Dumb pad placement, no separate beat jump, no loop encoders, no Aux-In, no XLR master, tiny-ass pitch sliders, lame jog displays, faders can't be replaced, no proper mic controls, etc... Growing up I had a Sony MHC-VX90AV hi-fi which had "DJ features" it allowed you to loop CDs, add drums, drum patterns and SFX pads. Massive gimmick, but that was the 90s for you. Anyway, I'm not sure how AlphaTheta have done it but the groove circuit has less function than a 25 year old hifi. Well done team, massive accomplishment 🎉

Will the DDJ-GRV6 be a good choice as home equipment, thanks to which I will feel comfortable playing in a club? I mean a full-size jog, hot cue like in the CDJ 3000, an effector like in the DJM A9 and creating a playlist in rekordbox and putting it on a pendrive to connect in the club. Assuming that this is the maximum budget I have, will this be the best option? The only thing I am afraid of is the comfort of playing with such short pitch faders (I have been playing on turntables for 20 years). I am less interested in these groove gadgets. Is it worth paying extra and buying this equipment instead of the FLX6? Apparently the difference in quality is big. Can you survive playing with such short pitch faders? Best regards.

This looks like a pretty nifty controller, and finally AlphaTheta got the pricepoint right, but... Once again AlphaTheta made one pretty disastrous design decision/omission which would have cost them almost nothing to implement: lack of color LEDs on the 8 pads above the jogwheels. RGB colour LEDs cost pennies more than blue LEDs, so it just boggles the mind why they didn't use them (only explanation is a greedy push to make you pay twice as much for a DDJ-FLX10). This simple feature would've made the DDJ-GRV6 more aligned with the CDJ-3000 look, and helped tremendously to simplify hand/eye coordination for on--the-fly hotcue activation; many DJs colour their different hotcues (I colour my drops green, my 32/24/16/8 bar mixout points in different shades of purple, etc) and Rekordbox lays out the 8 visible pads in 2 rows of 4 whereas the CDJ-3000 and DDJ-GRV6 both lay out the pads in 1 row of 8, so colours would've helped a little to avoid wrong activations.

The Groove Circuit could be kinda good when we get half decent Stems in Rekordbox though not for Drums but an easier way of of capturing Vocal Loops into on the fly. You can do this already pretty easily just using the Sampler but then you have the extra button presses of Stemming out the Vocal from your Track and switching to your Sample Pad mode to play your Vocal Sample you Captured ect. Don't think its a big enough selling point though to be honest when you can basically do this already even on entry level Gear.

What features were lost in this one? I do feel like they're really just testing out everything in the mid-tiers like the REV5 and this. I feel like this could build a strong base for future controllers (in top tiers) if RB stems become better than seratos 🫢. Even implementing it into their future top tier controllers (if done right). How are they adding drum replace functionality when their stems engine is so bad you cannot even use it. The FLX10 is out for over a year now and THE Unique Selling Point STILL isn't usable with their own software. I hate using Serato, so I'm stuck between "prefered workflow without stems" and "I fucking hate this, AAAARGH.... but yey! Usable stems..." AT should update RB before dumping out new controllers their software can't even really use. It's sad to see the company with the software I love, Rekordbox, fuck up so bad recently. Almost every AT hardware launch lately was met with "this sucks" and laughing...

I really love the concept of this controller. However the Groove feature screens hybrid set, but Rekorbox still is missing live inputs, like in Traktor. But especially now that we have stem separation and stuff like this I would love to route Bitwig (or Ableton) into one of the Mixer channels instead of the normal deck on that channel.Hope they one day add that.

Hello fellow haters. I bought this the other day cause my Rev 7 was too heavy to fly with and it's been a lot of fun to play around and experiment on it, I even took it out to a wedding gig and it felt great. Reminds me of the Roland controllers (obvs those are cooler) but with the CDJ 3000 A9 layout. I know it's silly but the fact that this weighs next to nothing almost makes me wanna take it out to gigs more. I got it mostly cause of the layout, the drum stuff...well... I can see me using it a little but who knows. I don't think of this as a horrible controller and I don't think Alpha Theta lost their mind, it's just fine - yeah it doesn't have XLR outputs but let's be honest, most folks play a mix of venues and plenty of them have RCA hookups so it's not that big a deal, you're not dj'ing on Funktion speakers at Berghain, you'll be fine.

Props. All so true. The GRV6 has to be experienced and used before people cast their opinions. It’s a great controller with loads of features and the cross platform functionality is awesome. The balanced TRS outputs are really useful too - I run converters on mine to hook up to XLRs when needed.

I really don’t get the hate on this product, i’ve been waiting for month because all controllers on the market were missing something I was looking for but this one has it all : nice stem integration with rekordbox AND serato, easy way to navigate through songs, 4 Channels, balanced outputs (don’t understand why people hate one the outputs, you get balanced trs which is nearly the same as xlr), you get cool fx features that are not on other controllers and most importantly the price is decent . The only downside is the tempo fader but fuck it

I do some recording of audience responses and want to use the DDJ DS 1000 to record them. I was trying to use my MPC Live, but doesn't want to work that well for this. I can use Ableton Link to get my DDJ 1000 to sync with the DDJ DS 1000, but was hoping that perhaps the DDJ-GRV6 would sync up without using Ableton Link. Thanks.

Call me crazy, but I actually don’t mind it. Hear me out. Launched under the Alpha Theta name with the outlook of trying new “innovative” features. I think they’ve done alright with trying to push some possible different ways of DJing or mixing with this controller. Yeah may not be the shiny yet metal casing that you’d want. But having owned a DDJ800, I can see what they were trying to do with this one.
